#3From what I'm understanding... DirecTV will only have like 10% - 20% of sports transmitted in 4K. I don't know when it will be close to 100%?
I think it would take another solid year if not longer.
I also heard that some "cable providers" you may have to upgrade your current box.
Personally... I would wait until all channels are available... and furthermore... there might be an additional surcharge for 4K transmission.Comment -

#4I have a 78 inch 4k ultra.....it's amazing. like money shot said you can't really find too many 4k channels or anything right now but the resolution is great and the channels will come around in a few years.
OLED is probably even better tbh.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

#18I'll wait 10 more years before I buy another TV. There is always a new gimmick coming out every year with TVs. They found enough suckers to sell to stuff they will never use.Comment -

#22I don't know if anyone remembers the LG 71PY1M Plasma Model? I think it came out in 07-08?
Retail Price was $15,000 at Best Buy....
They were getting rid of 2 models... to make room for the FALL Models.
Talk the guy down to $5,200 (Floor Model) out the door. Its still working. I only use it here and there.... it's not on all the time. Won't ever spend that much ever again on a TV.

#26OLED is where it is at but I haven't upgraded to a big one yet. The differences between OLED and LED are drastic. One of the biggest differences you'll notice is what seeing black really looks like on a TV especially against the edge of something with color. Same can be said for whites.
You can have a OLED 4k UHD TV though so best of both.Last edited by brooks85; 04-25-16, 07:44 PM.Comment -

#31I bought a 50 inch sharp one open box from best buy. Was only around $600. And regular 1080p hd tvs were only little cheaper. I love it and think its worth it. Definitely check out best buy open boxComment -

#34I bought a 49" Scepter 4K TV on sale at Christmas ($259). Great set but not a lot of 4K content out there and you have to have a player to play it. I have a computer that can output 4K and I bought the new 4K Roku4. You then have to upgrade Netflix to get the UltraHD option every month. I tried it out for a couple months and went back to standard HD netflix. Not enough content for the price.
OLED technology is really where it's at. You can turn off individual pixels and the quality, especially blacks are exceptional. The only thing close are the old Pioneer Kuro plasmas that are still one of the best cinematic experiences. LG holds the patent, so it may be a while before we see other manufactures compete.Comment -
