This doesnt look terrible. Wouldnt pay to see it. But if its an option on an airplane or sometthing, probably would check it out for a few minutes before writing it off.

The original Ghostbusters was a classic... that was a Harold Ramis script, and he was one of the best screenwriters ever. There was always a lot of clever humor mixed in with the silly. He wrote Groundhog Day -- a fukkin masterpiece -- as well as Stripes, Analyze This, Caddyshack... lot of good stuff.

I agree that the new Ghostbusters looks like a total waste of time for adults who already know the original. For young people, I suppose they might as well just start with the new one since it will be modernized/ less dated.

I agree that remakes are generally a waste of time, but every now and then they can improve on something. For instance, they're remaking Stephen King's It... the original was a TV miniseries that was pretty cheesy and poorly done (outside of an amazingly scary performance by Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown). The new one will be in theaters, in two installments. I have higher hopes for it with the additional budget and would check it out.

Getting 75% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes...a lot higher than I expected. AMC has Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 on back to back tonight. Watching the special effects in Ghostbusters today is hilarious. They are bad. The subtle comedy is great though. These constant reboots just go to show the lack of creativity in Hollywood.

Some of Melissa McCarthy's movies are cringe worthy, but Spy was really funny.
