#77Phyliss Schlafly - "Rubio Is A Lackey For The Establishment, He Betrayed Us All"
In 2009, Marco Rubio was a plucky challenger for the open Senate seat in Florida, taking on incumbent Republican Gov. Charlie Crist. Though Rubio was trailing in the polls, one leading conservative activist thought he had real potential and vowed to help him.
“When Marco Rubio ran for the Senate in Florida, I think I was the first one to endorse him,” said Phyllis Schlafly. “I made a trip down to Florida in 2009 just for the purpose of helping him.”
But Schlafly, a legendary conservative activist, author and WND columnist, now says she is bitterly disappointed by Rubio’s record.
When Phyllis Schlafly speaks, conservatives listen. Check out what the pioneer of modern conservatism has to say in WND’s Superstore.
“Once he got elected, he betrayed us all,” she told WND. “He said he was against amnesty and against the establishment. And once he got in, right away, he became an agent of the establishment. And now, of course, he’s big for amnesty and letting all the illegal immigrants in. He betrayed us a number of times on that issue.”
Schlafly said she was startled at the magnitude of Rubio’s “betrayal” on amnesty.
“It was so public,” she said.
“He’s a lackey for the establishment now,” she said. “There’s no question they’re picking up as Plan B – or maybe Plan C in this election cycle, or whatever we’re on now – but he certainly is an establishment agent.”
What do YOU think? What is your view of presidential candidate Marco Rubio? Sound off in today’s WND poll
Rubio has been moving up in the polls since his third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses. But Rubio’s record has drawn new attention since Sen. Rick Santorum, after dropping out of the presidential race and endorsing the Florida senator, found himself tongue tied when asked on MSNBC to name Rubio’s greatest accomplishment.
Rubio is best known for co-sponsoring the “Gang of 8” immigration amnesty bill, partnering with Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., to allow a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants and dramatically increase legal immigration. Rubio was also identified by Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., as the person designated to “neutralize” and “proselytize” conservative opposition.
Schlafly urged conservatives not to underestimate the importance of the immigration issue.
“Immigration right now is the biggest issue. All you need to do is look at Europe, and you can see that,” she said. “But there are other issues like trade where Rubio has aligned with the establishment against the American worker.”
Hillary for prosecution, not president! Join the sizzling campaign to put Mrs. Clinton where she really belongs
Watch Rubio clash with Sen. Rand Paul, R-K.Y., on immigration during the Jan. 28 GOP debate:
Though Rubio has been criticized for his poor attendance record in the Senate, he did manage to attend the session that granted President Obama powers to fast-track the Trans-Pacific Partnership as well as future trade agreements.
"Trade is a big issue," Schlafly argued. "The whole thing with how they are pushing these trade agreements and mass immigration is a cheat and a lie to the American people. And Rubio has joined the group that is pushing it."
Schlafly also criticized Rubio's foreign-policy credentials, as early in his term of office the freshman Florida senator enthusiastically backed President Obama’s campaign to remove the regime of Moammar Gadhafi in Libya.
Libya has since become a stronghold for ISIS.
"That didn't get us anywhere," said Schlafly.

Schlafly, who has spoken highly of both Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz, slammed "the establishment's" determination to select the Republican candidate.
"They're the people who have been picking losers all these years, and we want the grassroots to have a crack at it," she said.
She criticized Rubio as just the latest front man for the "kingmakers" she has denounced her entire career.
The narrative of Rubio as the "establishment choice" is also becoming part of the presidential campaign. Ted Cruz, campaigning in New Hampshire after his victory in Iowa, slyly has portrayed Rubio as the choice of the elites rather than the grassroots.
"I understand that in the media newsrooms and in the Washington establishment circles, Marco is the chosen one," he said.
He also joked, "In the media's telling, bronze is the new gold," referring to the widespread treatment of Rubio's third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses as a great success.
Schlafly urged conservatives not to take any chances with the election.
"Just look at what [Sen.] Jeff Sessions said – this is the last chance to save the America," she said. "Immigration is the issue."
She dismissed any hopes Rubio could redeem himself to conservatives.
"As soon as he got in there, he betrayed us all," she reiterated. "Don't make it look like I'm supporting him now."

#81Unreal. Just bully each other out there, so that whoever the nominee ends up being is just the one who survives the friendly fire. Attacking each other way too much. Rubio did well last time, so they gang up on him like a group of High School bullies. Mainly New Jersey. Might as well crown Hillary now if the Republicans keep going at it like this. Trim the fat, get the ones out who have no shot and are just diminishing the chance of the party winning, and they're only out there to help who they are going to endorse when they finally drop out.Comment -

#85Agree. Rubio's a good guy, a good candidate, but Christie schooled him early on. Shame on his advisers for not prepping him better. He was trying to be scripted rather than answer the question and Christie unloaded on him for it and rightly so.Comment -

#86Rubio was caught off guard by Christie and his bullying, elementary school tactics, for sure. He got it together when they started actually having a debate and Christie took a backseat. Only chiming in when he could go after Rubio again. He's out there just to be the goon who tries to get under the skin of a threat.Comment -

Just like any debate, overreactions right away. A lot of safe play from the others tonight. Rubio was just the person of interest tonight while everyone else got a pass.Comment -

#92I suppose you guys are right. The average voter will get stuck on that one thing, and not the points of substance. He got stuck on what he wanted to say about Obama instead of just letting it go. Unfortunately, that will be what is talked about, and that was Christie's plan. I think he can recover, but certainly ruins his momentum. Not my guy anyway but do like him. Would just like to see it be whittled down to those who have a shot.Comment -

Marco Rubio’s alleged gay past is the subject of a hit piece that’s being widely circulated on Facebook that contains a lot of innuendo and some provocative photos allegedly of the Florida senator.
The post, by columnist Wayne Madsen published at Public Intelligence Blog, claims that “Marco Rubio was, as a high school and college student, known to be a very extroverted homosexual in both South Beach in Miami, a popular gay area, and at college in Gainesville, Florida.”
The piece contains an alleged photo of Rubio (below) in 1989 “dancing and singing in a South Miami troupe that combined the Chippendales with The Village People.”
Another photo shows a gay foam party at the ’90s South Beach gay nightclub Warsaw Ballroom, and show’s a man’s profile which Madsen says “is believed to be” Rubio. The face is obscured, so it really could be anybody.
Writes Madsen:
In order to prepare for the University of Florida, Rubio attended Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville. Republican sources have told WMR that Rubio, Barrios, and two other students shared a townhouse in Gainesville that was known locally as a “coke house,” where cocaine was readily available, as were almost non-stop parties in what amounted to an off-campus gay frat house. In 1987, Rubio’s brother-in-law, Orlando Cicilia, was busted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for his role as a key figure in a cocaine smuggling ring in south Florida.
After graduating from the University of Florida, Rubio attended the University of Miami Law School. In 1995, Rubio claims he met his wife, Miami Dolphins cheerleader Jeanette Dousdebes at a “foam party” in South Beach. There is one thing wrong with Rubio’s story: foam parties in South Beach were almost exclusively gay events held at gay clubs like “Warsaw Ballroom” and “Amnesia,” the latter name befitting some of Rubio’s memories of his time in Miami.
The photo is accompanied by a juicy*description from a 1995 Miami New Times article describing the foam parties at Warsaw and Amnesia.
There is one piece of Madsen’s story that is accurate: “In 1989, a year before Rubio was arrested with his friend Angel Barrios and another unidentified male friend in Alice Wainwright Park in south Miami, ostensibly for drinking beer in a car after closing time in a park known as a pickup locale for gays.”
The*Miami New Times*wrote about this incident last week, though Barrios, who was linked to Miami’s most infamous gay porn case, denies that both he and Rubio are gay:
Decades after his legal run-in with Rubio, Barrios was associated with perhaps the most notorious gay porn ring in Miami history, an Edgewater house full of models with names like “Khali Kreme” and “Sincere Luv” who had sex all day in front of dozens of webcams. Couple that with the fact that the park where Rubio was arrested was a well-known gay cruising spot and lurid rumors — with no basis in documented fact — have blown up all this week on the internet, eagerly stoked by Donald Trump supporters casting Rubio as a closeted homosexual. Right-wing conspiracy monger Alex Jones devoted a five-minute segment to the allegations yesterday, while posts on the claims have been heavily upvoted on a Reddit page*for Trump supporters.
“I have nothing against gay people, but this is just so far from the truth,” says Barrios, who laughs out loud at the idea of having had a sexual relationship with Rubio. “I have kids, and now they’re reading all this garbage online. It’s insane.”
In any case, it appears that the right has gone full throttle behind-the-scenes on bringing down Rubio as a closeted gay, with more than just*cha-cha heels.Comment -

#96You do realize they also ran a similar article on Obama and Bush, right? This is National Enquirer stuff. Kind of stupid if you actually believe it. And if you do believe it, I've got some national enquirers to sell you. One says Patrick Swayze is dating an alien.Comment -
