I'm cheap as shit, wanna retire before I'm fukking 70. Only eat out maybe 2-3 times a month, drink Keystone Light when I do drink, don't go buying clothes and shit that I don't need. I absolutely hate shopping. If your not gonna save, put more money towards any loans you might have. Doesn't do much right away, but once the car loan or mortgage or whatever is gone, can save a shit ton.Comment -
One thing that no one has mentioned that you can do is buy a house. I know all the "Rich Dad" weirdos and millennials will skewer me for this, but it's a way to force yourself to save while still providing a basic need.
Also if you need to buy comfort shit why not buy things that are cash instruments too? Watches, art, jewelry, guns, you get the idea. Serves the purpose of saving yet you can enjoy it too. Hey if you do it right you can make some cash too. At least in a pinch you can pawn the stuff.Comment -
Put a % in a TFSA or Roth IRA or look into Mutual Funds.
Eat/drink out less. I go out quite a bit but I'm going to try and cut it down in 2016 which would save me an extra $300/mo easily.
Gas is expensed by my job but if you have a car that is a gas guzzler look into a car that is more gas friendly.
Rent is a bitch here so look to split with a roommate/gf to save on costs.
No need for lavish items but stuff like a cellphone, laptop, tv are basically necessary so if you're going to get them just get good quality and pay the VIG because they should last a few years.
Work online a few extra hours if you really need to. Check out www.reddit.com/workonline and look to the right where it says sites I can make 6$+ an hr from. I've personally never tried it but it seems to work. www.reddit.com/r/mturk is a popular one.Comment -
