Despite growing up in the area and playing at nearby Lower Merion High, there's always been a love/hate relationship between Kobe and this city. A lot of that has to do with Kobe wanting to rip our hearts out back in the 2001 Finals.

I retired Kobe when he blew out his Achilles tendon.. Hasn't been the same player since..

I'm also bitter he signed on for the last 2 years for 30 mil a pop knowing he killed the salary cap and team.. Selfish move and it put a very bad taste in many die hard Laker fans mouth.. I'm one of those fans..

Magic Johnson wouldn't have been that selfish and do that to the Laker fans and franchise in his remaining 2 years if that were the case.. He would have sacrificed for the team.. Lakers should be bigger then Kobe.. Part of the blame falls on Jim Buss though...

Kobe made a boat load of money over his long career especially with all the endorsements.. He could have taken 10 mil a year, signed more free agent players and saved the team.. Laker fans don't deserve what he did.. Kobe is not bigger then the Laker franchise.. Lakers didn't owe him anything..

Owners were stupid though to pay him and Steve Nash so the blame falls on both.. Lakers haven't been this bad and pathetic as a team in their storied history..
