"The way PASPA was written, PASPA says no state can authorize sports betting. My legislation does not authorize sports betting, it just doesn't prohibit sports betting in Atlantic City casinos or race tracks." stated Lesniak.

I'll believe it when I see it. Better chance of JJ waking up with a flowing Fabio mane than anything of note happening in NJ re gambling in the next 10 years.

Who thinks they might get somewhere this time? In the interview Lesniak said it might be passed in time for March Madness or even before?

I voted for this in 2010, held out until 2015. Finally said fukk it and left NJ. Hiding out in the Virginia Appalachians and betting offshore is the life.

This combined with Nevada declaring DFS as gambling and requiring a license are the 2 best bits of news legalized US Sportsbetting has received in a long time. The NFL is scrambling to protect their huge $$$ from DFS, but they are going to have to explain their hypocricy in championing and profiting from gambling in one case, and wanting to keep it outlawed in the other.

They don't think it affects their business. Doesn't take a year but does take resources to have it done. Someone there will i'm sure as being new people will go crazy betting

I read that Michigan story on the front page of SBR. My question is....

Is Michigan waiting for the reaction/result of New Jersey? Or will Michigan try to push regardless?

That would be amazing if Michigan allows sports wagering. I live 20 mins from casino.

I just wanted to give me 2 cents on this Michigan situation.

I can't speak for other states in which have recovered since the recession. As far as Michigan goes... we still haven't recovered. Furthermore, since the recession... there were numerous state employees and sections that were mismanaged and overpaid.

There was a write up about 2 weeks ago... Michigan declared to go after all companies who weren't collecting the 6% sales tax when purchasing goods. Michigan estimated they have lost around 377 million dollars in taxes in which companies didn't report in 2009. And it fluctuated to 414 million in 2010. They "promised" to severely punish companies who didn't honor the law.

Michigan is clearly money hungry. If there was any state out of 50 that would do their best to get a law passed to accept Sports Wagering... it would be Michigan.

I'd rather drive 40 miles (monmouth racetrack is about that distance) than deal with offshore or locals (which I currently do).

The government can only mess things up, not improve them. To "regulate" means to limit and control. I prefer free market were companies thrive or die on their reputation and customer experience. Politicians just use regulation to help the biggest campaign contributors build a competitive moat around their shitty business preventing better companies from competing with them because they can't get a "license" aka permission. If I want to place a bet, and a company wants to accept my bet, I don't need a third party in that transaction.
That's my 2 cents on this legalized state by state charade of politicians debating on weather we the sheeple should have the freedom to make our own decisions or if we need the nanny state to tell us what we can and can't do with our own money. I vote for freewill over narcissist political elites making my decisions for me.
