Sucks that's he's doing it in the middle of the season.
Makes me wonder if another job offer or health related

You think SC told a legend like Steve Spurrier to retire mid-season after all he did for that program? No chance in hell! Guy is a quitter....always been a sore loser. Only other issue might be health related. But people were expecting this before the season if he got off to a bad start.

How do you fire a legend like superior after what he did for U of SC?

you ask him to step down wait for it ...you think a coach as competitive as coach spurrier would give up on his kids mid season?

You don't at SC. The guy quits or retires when he is ready. No coach retires mid-season..that isn't a retirement. When he starts losing...he quits.

A reporter for the Atlanta Journal Constitution predicted he would quit if the team started to lose. He and Spurrier got into it before the season when the reporter called him out. Spurrier is a quitter..always has been. Can't handle losing, especially at his age. You can't think SC forced him out...were talking SC...a program that was nothing before he got there. He leaves on his own terms and if by some crazy scenario were he was forced...they surely would have given him the respect to finish out the year.

Would make sense since that's what Gator and ex gator coaches do...fake health issues to quit and go somewhere else
Nothing to see here

LOL no one has a clue...could have been anything
SC was literally an SEC doormat and he got them to 3 straight 11 win seasons while dominating all of their big rivals in Georgia, Clemson and Florida...still impressive
Obviously a legend from his Florida days
tough crowd here

How is Spurrier any different than Urban Meyer? They both walked out on their teams.
It's just the way it is... make something up.... medical condition... retirement. Fuk... Spurrier might be going to Southern Cal now.

He gets a free membership there as part of his contract. Really.
He should have coached out, and could at least have tried to upset Clemson in the last game.

Will go down as one of the top 10 of all time probably, regardless of what you think about him.
