You have to take Arrieta at that price. This guy goes through elite teams like the dodgers and pirates like they are a high school team. He seems to get stronger as the season goes along maybe he's really the best conditioned pitcher in baseball like Maddon says he is.

Nobody on this team has been to the playoffs with the Cubs, so I'm not sure what that means. Arrieta is as stone cold as they come. Whene he faced a no hitter at Dodgers stadium, he proceeded to strike out the side without breaking a sweat.

Cubs do have a lot of rookies, so I suppose that could be a factor, maybe defensively, but I don't see Arrieta getting rattled.

Anything can happen, but you have to seriously hold your breath and take a leap of faith to bet against Jake. Unless they really get to him, bullpen probably won't even be a factor. Maddon will ride Arrieta as long as he needs to. He wouldn't blink at 130-140 pitches if need be.

Just added it up, his last 10 or so starts.... 88 IP, and 3 Earned Runs. THREE RUNS. IN EIGHTY EIGHT INNINGS PITCHED.

ERA of 0.30. Over the course of 2 months. This is absurd.
