On Dish you can and there RedZone channel kills Directs. Dish was also first to have it. Direct will stay locked onto one game for a period of time where as the second someone is in the redzone or score Dish instantly turns to it.

Kahn! I'm glad you got a deal bro. My contract ends 9/4/15 and honestly... not looking to get locked up in another contract from DirecTV. Don't know if I really want the Sunday Ticket either? My bill was around $65.00 for 2 years... (constant complaining). Not intentional... had several audio drop outs. My ESPN and Fox Sports Detroit always has audio issues. Video is fine... but... I believe the audio drops are from the Genie. If DirecTV would allow you to have just a HD DVR receiver... that would be fine. They force you to have this Genie.... and honestly... they need to update the software or something.

I'm just going to try and go month to month at $65.00 a month. 2 Receivers... same setup etc. If they don't want my business... I'll have to figure out another alternative. Not going to be locked into anyone anymore...

yeah i hear you. i just renewed it since i want the redzone channel and i heard directv will most likely show the pac-12 network this year for the first time.

the worst part was being on the phone with this african bitch that didn't really speak english and the volume on her side was really low.

i kept asking her to repeat what she said and it sounded exactly the same as the first time. it was so frustrating but all in all, i got the redzone channel for free.

F it just called dish network to see what they could offer me since I have been a valued member for 6+ years and on auto pay. They bumped me up to the great sport package and gave me free hbo and stars for 6 months, while it all costs $10 less than what I pay now!

1. Call the "Retention Department" at DirecTV. Just tell them you'd really like the package... and ask them to knock off $100 on it. Or go HALF. Something like that... you'd be amazed at what they can do for you.

2. If you are moving during your 2 year contract. For some reason... when you move to a different address and install DirecTV... they give you NFL Sunday Ticket for FREE again. I have no idea why... but if you ask... they will give it to you.

Exactly... I've had Sunday Ticket for several years... and I think only once I turned on the RedZone channel... just to see what's up with it? And I felt like I was missing all the action everywhere else. Felt like I was being cheated.

I have had Sunday Ticket for 3 years I think and I never watch the RedZone channel. Having said that I do have a 65 inch TV in my den with 3 other 40 inch TVs

Hell I watch channel 720 EVERYDAY for MLB baseball on my big screen. MLBTV is MUSTHAVE for gamblers

Just wanted to give some people an update if they have DirecTV and/or their contract is expiring just before the start of the NFL Season.

I have a Genie system (2 receivers) I have the main genie in the basement (3 floor home) and the mini genie on the main floor. I've had numerous issues with audio drop outs (nothing major - but annoying to a degree). ESPN, Fox Sports Detroit.. Hard to explain... not crystal clear audio. And on the mini genie... at times... when you're watching a program the lips don't match the words when watching a program. It just does that from time to time. Audio/Video not in-sync. During those 23 months... I had DirecTV out to my home 3 times. Techs just tell me there's nothing wrong. They've swapped out the mini-genie just for precautionary reasons... And they swapped out the main genie once... because there was a hard drive failure for your DVR features.

In my personal opinion... I don't think the Genie system was precisely made with homes that have a basement. Somehow the metal beams interfere with some sort of frequency? Maybe I'm wrong? But it's not working out for me.

With this in mind... this is how I renegotiated with DirecTV. 8/7/15

I'm paying $66.23 a month for Total Choice Package (2 receivers.) I have several discounts on my account because of the issues I'm having. I've learned to deal with it to save a buck.

DirecTV offered me today:

1 $5 off discount for 12 months
2. Free NFL Sunday Ticket (Not The NFL TICKET MAX. Just The Regular) (1 Year Agreement Required)
*Keep in mind.. some of my previous discounts/credits will be expiring soon.*

I confirmed this with the lady on the phone... you said 1 year correct? She said yes. I said... I'm just confirming you didn't say 2 years. She said... nope only one.

So... as you clearly see... somehow they are giving away the Sunday Ticket. And it's kind of odd. Don't see how this benefits DirecTV? 2 Year agreement Yes. 1 Year agreement still at a low price...???? No. Probably has something to do with Dish Networks new 2 year promotion. You can go to their website and check it out.

But, all I can say is... call DirecTV.

1. When you're prompted to tell the reason for your call.. say "Cancel Service".

2. Then the computer goes "Did you want to change programming" You say No.

3. Then, the computer says.. "Are you cancelling your service because you are moving?" You say NO!

4. And now you're into DirecTV's "Retention Department" ball is in your court. You basically name the price. Have all your ammunition ready... meaning... tell them you're going to Xfinity... or Dish Network. Tell them the reason why you're pissed. I guarantee you... if done correctly... you're going to get a lot of free stuff.
