No longer can you say Nick Saban is the best coach.

Not even close. Good yea. If he was best he would have stayed in the best league. He may win more championships but only has to win 3 tough games a year to do it. 2 of those being playoff games. If Big 10 starts improving he will run again. Maybe Texas or west coast for same reason

Left the toughest conference when his team started to suck citing chest pains, moved on to a much easier conference.

It's only one game but an OSU team that couldn't previously beat an SEC team all of a sudden beat one that's done pretty well recently; let's see what happens in the next few years. Right now I'd hire Meyer instead of Saban.

By all appearances seems like a good guy on and off gridiron. So, what's the indictment on his personal character some here are alluding to?

its mostly Florida fans and or Buckeye haters....
i admit i couldnt stand him when he was at Florida but i love him now that he is a Buckeye.
But i always admired him b/c he is such a competitor and i love how he never lets his foot off the gas.
He is aggresive risk taker, the opposite of Jim Tressel.

he did make it up.....he knew ahead of time that tressel was resigning and like i said the bucks is his dream job so that when he came up with the health problems.
fickell was chosen to coach the team so it didnt look all shady and after that year urban was coach and gave fickell a spot on his staff for doing the buckeye way!

I always suspected him.

Look at his track record of player misconduct off the field. As a coach in college he is supposed to mentor kids into becoming responsible men. Clearly he does not. The way he handled leaving Florida for Ohio St was embarassing as well.

That's a big indictment on the character of Urban. I was lead to believe the guys girlfriend broke up with him and he couldn't deal with it. Really isn't all that unheard of for guys being so whipped and when the girl leaves the guy does pretty irrational things up to and including killing yourself.

it was more than that......i really dont want to put the program under the bus but there was other issues at play with kosta and other players and how Urban and staff dealt with it.

Urban and Saban are both great coaches. For you BOZOs to say Urban is a monster are pure trolls. He didn't run from competiton, he ran to his dream job. Someone with his talent at coaching, can write their own ticket. The real turn around last year happened when he brought in some defensive coaching help for Fickell. He spotted the problem, addressed it and went on to DOMINATE the rest of the country. Our country includes the ACC, SEC, etc. The proof is in the pudding boys. They lined up and played the games from start to finish. The Buckeyes might be in the mix this year. The Big Ten will be tested early when Wisky plays Bama. The Big Ten Champion may have a loss.

Both Saban and Urban are top notch. Ohio State is loaded with talent much like Saban had at Alabama a few years ago. Urban definitely makes the Playoffs again this season but Saban might be one more year away from being back on top. Saban had to recruit differently on the Defensive side of the ball to keep up with the mobile QBs and up tempo that gave them fits the past couple of seasons. Schedule is one of the toughest this season and that might keep them on the outside looking in when the committee selects that 4th spot. Michigan State might have the Buckeyes number this year though but they should be the only legitimate threat to a repeat.
