Yeah Chesnut beat Stonie 61-56 last year. It was raining and the humidity was in 90's, super tough conditions.

The two years prior Chesnut killed the field with 68 and 69 tying his own record from 09' then breaking it.

I think there is motivation here to get to 70 and break his own record again.

Gotta watch the humidity though.

That's right. I wait all year for this event. I have never succeeded at capping any event more accurate than Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. There is a lot that goes into my pick. It is all about getting off to a quick start. If he can get 10 hot dogs down his throat a couple seconds faster and maintain a steady swallowing pace we could be in for a new record. I hope I can make it 13 in a row this year and cement my legacy as the greatest capper for hot dogs but I have to wait until we get closer to the date to make sure there are no injuries or soreness.

I know it is a hot dog eating contest. To me I have trouble watching because it is disgusting the way they eat the hot dogs dunking the buns in water. Pink crap all over there faces that is not a contest they should have to eat the whole dog without dunking in it water I do not think they would eat as many.

Kobayashi's participation in the July 4, 2007, Nathan's contest continued as scheduled. He was able to eat a personal record 63 hot dogs, though his mark was bettered by Joey Chestnut's 66

Kobayashi went on to defeat Chestnut, on May 31, 2009, in a Pizza HutP'Zone competition at Sony Studios in Culver City, California. The competition aired on Spike TV on June 21

On July 4, 2009, he competed again in the Nathan's contest. He ate 64.5 hot dogs and buns

On September 27, 2009, Kobayashi defeated Chestnut again with a score of 93 (68 Krystals, 5 Big Angus Burgers), earning the $20,000 top prize. Chestnut was second, with 81, and Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti finished third, with 76

On July 4, 2011, Kobayashi competed on the rooftop of a Manhattan bar simultaneously with the Nathan's Contest at Coney Island via a live video simulcast of the event. Kobayashi finished 69 hot dogs,^[15][16] one more than the officially recognized world record. Chestnut told reporters, "I think even Kobayashi would agree that the record still stands at 68. And if he wants to compete with me on the Fourth of July, he knows what he has to do - sign a simple contract and man up".

On July 4, 2012, Kobayashi competed in the Crif Dog Classic. He ate 58.5 hot dogs and buns.
