So this is the guy whom they feel is worth burning down their own city?
Some local woman on the news said that the riots were "Devastating to the legacy of Freddie Gray"
I guess this is the legacy that she was talking about.

You need to brush up on your history. Blacks could vote in many states as far back as 1788 and the 15th amendment to the Constitution which was ratified in 1870 allowed "The right of the citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state, on account of race, color,or previous condition of servitude". In fact, the constitution allowed black males to vote in 1870, while woman of all races (including whites) were not given the constitutional right to vote until 1920 (19th amendment).
The voting acts right of 1965 gave the Federal government the power to prohibit the states from enforcing literacy or property as a condition to vote (which was considered as prejudicial). Since many blacks couldn't read or write, many were not allowed to vote because the state or county they resided in had literacy requirements (how can they vote if they can't read the ballots?). This also applied to many poor white people as well, who couldn't read or write. Some states also enforced conditions of residency and or ownership of property.
Im very glad someone brought this up.
The historicity of posts on this board is deplorable sometimes.

Heard some angry black man talking last night...Saying "Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, these are not guys worth burning down a city for, I will agree with the protests to some degree when A black man is pulled over for rolling through a stop sign coming home from work going home to his family with zero arrest on his record and he's shot for no reason, just because he was reaching to get his license and registration. That's the guy we should be protesting about, not these guys that would of ended up dead within 5 years anyways if it wasn't the cops doing it, the streets would of"
Easily the best thing I've heard. But again it's just the media blowing this all up. If this were never covered on the news, it's unlikely any riots would happened, in my opinion.

Cannot find embeddable version of Ray Lewis video.
Example of your "literacy" tests prior to 1965... That test far exceeds basic literacy, and also exceeds any test given to voters today.
Next you may say all citizens should know the constitution and laws of the US. I for one can't answer all of those questions, most of them yes but I honestly couldn't answer 100% of those questions now, and I doubt there are many other adults on this forum that could, whether they be black, white, latino, asian or any other race.
The reason I am able to answer most of those questions is I was provided an education by the beautiful U.S.A. (no sarcasm). How many minorities 50 or 120 years ago were afforded educations, or even had time to go to school? Not to mention the fact that there were very real obstacles to voting, such as fear of repercussions from Southern whites, much less than 120 years ago.
i'm not going to get into a civil rights argument, but please stop with the nonsense. Blacks didn't elect Obama, we are "13 % of the population" to quote someone from earlier in this post. 13% doesn't win the popular vote, there are plenty of young white males and females, and white women that got Obama into office, who is by the way 50% white, so take some ownership.

Cant' deny that at all. Kids looked like a bunch of idiots there as well. Destroying a Satellite dish worth over 100K was probably not a good idea.
Different standard of rioting though. Not really much in the way of looting, extreme violence towards others, and destroying everything in sight.

I was a kid during the 1967 Newark, NJ riots and lived in the next town, East Orange. There were about 25 deaths. The mentality then is what it is now, i.e., that Blacks have a collective mind set that the White man owes them. I observe that even well-to-do Blacks tend to believe in a general reparation. This is just based on Black friends and colleagues, so it's not a good sample size. But, it bothers the hell out of me. BOL eveyone.

How wrong you are. I suggest you read up on Greenwood. Here is a little sample
Greenwood is a neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As one of the most successful and wealthiest African American communities in the United States during the early 20th Century, it was popularly known as America's "Black Wall Street" until the white domestic terrorists attack of 1921. The terrorist attack was one of the most devastating massacres in the history of US, destroying the once thriving Greenwood community.Within five years after the white domestic terrorist attack, surviving residents who chose to remain in Tulsa rebuilt much of the district. They accomplished this despite the opposition of many white Tulsa political and business leaders. It resumed being a vital black community until segregation was overturned by the Federal Government during the 1950s and 1960s.Desegregation encouraged blacks to live and shop elsewhere in the city, causing Greenwood to lose much of its original vitality. Since then, city leaders have attempted to encourage other economic development activity nearby.
So basically black people were just minding their own business and did good for themselves only to have it all destroyed by jealous white devils. I don't know why any of that is a surprise. White devils also killed off the Indians and have been killing off countless other whites for generations. There are many more places just like greenwood today!
