Mavs are an enigma. They have a very good coach and many solid veterans with rings and lots of big game experience. They also took the Spurs to 7 games last year with a much less talented roster. Of course they then added Parsons and Tyson Chandler.

In theory, that should make them extremely dangerous. But they're an abomination on defense, Parsons will be playing hurt, and Rondo can sink the team all on his own if he wants. Or, he could decide to man up, flip the playoff switch, and help lead. No doubt they could absolutely bottom out, but I wouldn't be too eager laying so much juice against them.

If the Mavs win this series they'll be very dangerous for sure. Houston is the one team I wanted to avoid though as a fan (other than the Warriors but I never took the possibility of dropping to 8 seriously at all), this will actually be a more difficult round than the next one against the Clippers or Spurs (should they advance) for Dallas imo, partly because of a number of the "enigmas" you're talking about.

It will be competitive for sure imo. Probably many close games and I'd be surprised if it goes less than 6 games. I think the Rockets will win in 6 or 7.
