This is nuts, I've never seen a movement like this. Players really looking out for themselves these days.
MJD is the only one that I think is fake. He just doesn't want to be a Raider, the second he gets an offer he's allowed to take, he's on it.

Concussions are bad news.
I had one once after this girl beat me up, and I was seeing stars for weeks.

He didn't really "get paid". He played one year of his 3R rookie deal, lucky if he banked 1M, peanuts by NFL standards.

Nah... When he was signing with Oakland, he was talking more about coming to home town to end his career, then about racking serious yards on the field. I knew then already, that he is pretty much done. He is not coming back.

They don't pay these guys enough, they are now seeing the brutality of the NFL is not worth the peanuts they are paid.

Love how some media guys are trying to drum up a huge story outta this. Some speculating the gm may be in trouble moving forward yadada. Guy made a personal choice based on his best interest for himself and there are 1000's ready and willing to fill the void standing in line.
No different than other fields that present danger to life or psyche like being a soldier or cop for ex. who get paid FAR less. I'm sure plenty have got out of those fields shortly after joining after realizing the possible dangers 1st hand and having second thoughts. No biggie the beat goes on and you will be an afterthought in nfl 5 min from now Mr Borland. Bol!

Yeah I hear people saying it was cowardly , or he quit, others saying it was brave or heroic. None of the above in reality. Sure it was a tough choice but just a personal decision he made which were all faced with at times for better or worse. Nothing exceptional about it and really a non story pretty much. The machine needs something nfl related to blab about I guess. Lol

this guy was very undersized and had to play with complete recklessness in order to make tackles. he was never going to last a full season as a starter. also got run over by russell wilson which is humiliating.

This is easily the worst offseason for any NFL team I can remember
Is there any chance Aldon Smith doesn't get arrested/suspended within the next few weeks?

And they have that new stadium with no home field advantage that they can't win at and exiting after the game is a nightmare. To add insult to injury they can't even go back to Candlestick, it's been destroyed. Maybe they will just fold the team?

Soccer is no joke either. Heading the ball is an instant concussion.
The guy made his own choice for his own reasons, it's his life. He played at a top level in the NFL, hardly a sissy.
I agree about talk radio. Unless they played in the NFL, I can't listen for 5 mins. Some good ex-NFL radio guys tho.

personally i have never heard of him so i doubt he is that good but Jordan gross Left tackle for the Panthers coming off a 12-4 season made a very selfish decision to retire and left his team stranded with nobody to play left tackle.
Left tackles are not easy to replace... and there is no fukkin reason whatsoever to retire at age 30 unless you clearly have no respect for your teammates and you don't love the game.

well when they build a stadium in Santa Clara did they really expect to have a strong home field?
They should have torn down some of those shitty condos and aparment complexes and built the stadium in downtown San Francisco on the Bay like the Giants did. Or atleast put the stadium next to a bunch of bars so people can get good and drunk before the game.
Who the hell wants to drive an hour to go see a home game?
