I don't know, D2D. Some may see that as a big score. I'm starting to wonder if it's just a curse. The winning nights, I mean. I just started a thread in the NCAA basketball section about Iowa State. I almost went huge on them tonight (well, huge for me), but got busy reading to my girls at bed time and missed the tip. I was really angry with myself at first for not just making the bet this morning when I had the chance, especially when I saw ISU had built a 16-18 point lead for a lot of the second half. Then I watched the highlights. They gave up 23 points in the last 3 minutes with a 14-point lead, including a last-second tip to win by 3. Line was -4.5/-5.
Really slapped me across the face, even though I didn't have a penny on the game. I won a huge bet a while back with Iowa State, yet I would've been 1-1 with them after tonight because of a complete and utter bullshit ending. I've had some big nights and made some nice change through the years one small wager at a time. A true grinder. But after seeing what happened tonight when I was rightfully "busy" doing something else far more productive, I'm wondering if it's even worth it. The time, the capping, the grinding. For what? So a team I was going to back big coughs up a lead like that in impossible fashion?
You win big and it feels great. But I'm starting to think it just sets you up for the next disappointing beat around the corner, and you're going to be checking scores on your phone and getting pissed when your wife and kid are expecting your attention.
I just don't know anymore. I've always maintained that I could do both: be a husband/father and a gambler. Maybe it's just not worth it to try and keep up both lifestyles. Your call -- like it is mine -- moving forward. Good luck man.

Man, I couldn't agree more in the most general sense anyway.
The casino points mean nothing.....they will be gone in a day or two anyway as I blow them back in the casino.
As for the rest of it, I do agree. I actually started a thread a few days back (that I think you replied to) basically saying the same things as you. I have been betting high volume for years, but that time has passed.
I actually just had a 10 wager win streak come to an end, and until yesterday was on a 21-4 run. Yesterday and today I ended up 3-3 and broke even.....but still been a great run with way less stress. The 6 wages I placed the last two days was actually too much and I need to dial it down again.
I am going to make the family my first priority. I will only get one chance at being a dad to this baby girl, and I will be at my best.
Thanks for the input man, you are one of the good ones.

The more you play the higher the risk. A friendly advice would be to use at least 50% in the store and play with the rest if that is your intention. Remember, you're a winner only if you cash out.

No they don't...because as fun as it is to win points in the casino I am about to lose real money on Murray....all he had to do was hold his effing serve....he hadn't even seen a break point all day and then he gives away the cover. Now watch, he will win easily in a TB.

Totally agree here. I'm starting to watch lines on my phone all day and night instead of playing with my son. I've hit a big losing streak over the last two days. I think I'm going to pay the man and quit after super bowl Sunday. More to life than betting on a game.

You can balance the two, been doing it for ever.
You take care of the bills first, you take care of your family needs as well, give attention the the wife, the kids, the pets.
You take care of the home almost as important. After all that, approach your gambling as a hobby, with disposable income, that's what I do, my job is the sure thing, it's what we gambler's call a lock.
Steady income every Thursday, do your job, keep your nose clean, you get paid.
Plus I love my job. Not only that I get a pension and all the benefits. No matter how good you are, gambling can't pay you off like a good job can, but it can provide a little extra income if you treat it like a hobby, but take care of the day to day life activities first.
I guess the point I am trying to make here is prioritize.
Take care of what is most important first, and never lose sight of what is most important.
