I never understood why totals get the same odds as picking a side (NBA). There is so much less value buying points off a total of say 200 versus a spread of only a few points. Why would anyone ever tease totals, period? Thanks in advance

depends upon the sport but usually buying on or off points period is a NO NO . buying o/u goals in soccer markets however can be +ev . as per teasers crossing the 0 and teasing the total are cardinal sins .

I never understood why crossin 0 was such a bad thing. I'm not one to buy points all that often but I don't see harm in teasin a small favorite to a team now getting points...
