i agree that i wouldn't recognize half the posters here who change their avatars. i would never have known Lv Herbie if it wasn't for that fat guy on a mini bike. and when paver posts with pool guy pic, i know it's him right away. if he put another avatar, i'd read the post and not know it's him.. same goes for everyone else. i look at avatar first, then read the post.. i hardly ever look at name of poster.

I don't like the idea of legislating a rule like that. But I also get the spirit behind the proposal. I wish people wouldn't monkey with their avatars so much - for the recognizability reasons that have already been brought up.

But then there is a different problem with someone like me who has had the same avatar since day 1. It causes so much jealousy and resentment that it leads to tension on the forum.

It wouldn't be a problem if my avatar wasn't so awesome but of course, it is.

Exactly. The rule would never be written but a guy can daydream. Say after 5 avatar changes in a month, lock the avatar for [x] amount of time.
