i grew up loving KISS in the 70s.. very young, but they had many fans
even under 10 years old.. did KISS make it because of the makeup
and connections of Gene/Paul ? yes. It is questionable whether
they would have gotten the record deal back then without it.
They wore the makeup and did the stage acts so as to get the record deal.
Record deals were extremely hard to get in the 1970s.

I am not a KISS fan, but some of their songs were pretty good. People trash them, but I doubt they care they are printing money to this day. Gene Simmons is worth $300 mil.
