A reliable, inside source, already told me this is a done deal. Maddon has 2 beach houses in California. If he takes Jim Hickey with him too, game over

#7Doesn't look it.....
Maddon recently shot down speculation he would leave the Rays to join former GM Andrew Friedman with the Dodgers, saying "I'm a Ray, I've said it all along, I want to continue to be one." As Sternberg said in his statement, Maddon's contract was set to expire after next season and they were working on an extension.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports Maddon is not considering the Dodgers at this time. He was able to opt-out of his deal as soon as Friedman left and Heyman says there were some "contentious" days between the Rays and Maddon since that happened.
During his introductory press conference last week, Friedman told reporters Don Mattingly will "definitely" return as manager of the Dodgers in 2015. Mattingly's contract runs through the 2016 season.Comment -

#9ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Rays manager Joe Maddon has exercised an opt-out clause in his contract and will leave the club immediately.
Wow. Maddon said just over a week ago that he "absolutely" wanted to remain the Rays' manager following the departure of Andrew Friedman, but he had a change of heart after extension talks with the club fell apart. The natural assumption was that he'd follow Friedman to the Dodgers, but CBS Sports' Jon Heyman and FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal both say it's not going to happen. Maddon will obviously be a hot commodity for anyone considering a change at manager. Bench coach Dave Martinez is a likely option to succeed Maddon in Tampa.Comment -

Whats wrong with Atlanta? He was dumb enough to go to Tampa? The toilet of MLB. Assuming LA's Job is opened it would be dumb but LA job is not open.Comment -

#22Maddon honestly is probably destined for the NL, regardless of your opinion on him he understands in game strategy far better than some current managers and with double switches and more in game subs and matchups it's more suited to his style. I wouldnt say he qualifies as a players manager so whether he clashes with big dollar veterans getting paid far more than they're worth will be interesting.
I would love to see puig miss a few relays and big league a few doubles bat flip and all and see maddon's reaction though.Comment -

#23I think this would a great move for any big money team. Maddon knows his shit.
Only problem would be getting big money players to play his style of ball.
I think the Cubs would be the best fit.Comment -

#24Not knocking Maddon at all
but there's a train of thought out there that the table was set for him when he started at Tampa. Wasn't all him on the field.Comment
