Doc probably want the guys away from this tsunami for a day. It may be a good idea. It is pretty crazy though I agree.

pavy I disagree 100%. Clippers win this series for sure

The team quit on the owner. If you can still find futures on Warriors load up. Easy money.

Can an we have something that even resembles one set of rules? Or is there a "sterling standard " for some and no standards for others?
James i was talking to JJ when i said that. When i read ur first post i felt there was some merit to it.

If blacks want to punish Sterling they should make him an offer he won't refuse and buy the team from him. That will teach him a lesson.

I don't know about 'can't refuse', but he will not be able to refuse and will have to sell the team. Mark my words, no players will play for him after this season.

I heard someone saying he could be "suspended" for a season. What does that mean anyway? Suspended from what? He's the owner. How can he be suspended from owning?

D2 it's common knowledge this happened many times

Several owners have been suspended from owning a team. Hell these two Schott and Steinbrenner were suspended twice each. Schott was ready for her third suspension when she sold her team but still remained a minority partner

                          Steinbrenner...
It wasn't the first dubious incident in Steinbrenner's career, or even the first time he had been suspended from the game. In April 1974, he became part of the Watergate scandal which brought down President Nixon, when he was indicted on 14 counts of making illegal campaign contributions and obstruction of justice. He pleased guilty to two, was fined a five-figure sum, and then Commissioner Bowie Kuhn suspended him from baseball for two years, reduced on appeal to 15 months.

                          and suspension # 2 .......

On July 30th, 1990, Vincent banned the man who had just been labeled "The Most Hated Man in Baseball" on the cover of Newsweek George from the game for life. The weird thing is, it was Steinbrenner who requested the ban, instead of the two-year suspension originally suggested by Vincent. At the time, George thought a suspension would mean he would lose his position as vice president of the United States Olympic Committee. At the time, Steinbrenner was tired of the game, but - as so often - changed his mind, and Vincent relented and revoked the lifetime ban, shortly after two years had passed.

                          Schott.....
On May 5, 1996, Schott aroused ire when she made statements favorable of Adolf Hitler, saying he "was good in the beginning, but went too far."[2] MLB again banned Schott from day-to-day operations through 1998. Later in the month, Schott was quoted in Sports Illustrated as speaking in a "cartoonish Japanese accent" while describing her meeting with the prime minister of Japan.[2] Further, she said that she did not like Asian-American kids "outdoing our kids" in high school.[2]

On April 20, 1999, Schott agreed to sell her controlling interest in the Reds for $67 million to a group led by Cincinnati businessman Carl Lindner. At the time she was facing a third suspension, failing health and an expiring ownership agreement with her limited partners, who planned to oust her. Schott remained as a minority partner.

you still haven't answered my question if those 25 comments I posted offend you. Why do you choose to ignore it?

James, are you really in direct contact with Sterling since the incident?

I'll pay you 100 points if you can produce an audio clip.

200 points if you ask him his impression of the Harlem Globetrotters.

James D if you really do talk to Donald tell him this:

As bad as things are right now let him know that he could do something great here

Hold a press conference and say "From the bottom of my heart I would like to say to those people in the media and everyone else I have offended (pause for effect) ... deal with it! Agree with me, don't agree with me, people are free to have their own thoughts and opinions. When TMZ and ESPN have become our ethics police we need to take a long hard look at some things."

He will always have money, but this would make him a legend

In all seriousness I am very good friends with the family since about 1980 and it makes me sad to see this.

He would go to girlfriend then his wife would find out and refuse to see him. This particular girl has been a thorn in Shelly's side for years. Don has cheated for decades but he is so public about it that if really has hurt Shelly. She has six tickets to clipper games and she has status as dons girl, it wasn't hidden like the old days.

She didn't throw him under the bus. All she said was she does not share the despicable views expressed by her husband. That is true, if she didn't love don she would not have spent these few days with him at the hotel during this sh@tstorm . He is really distraught and he may finally be realizing it's not 1948 anymore.

Everyone knows Shelly loves Don and this woman and affair has hurt Shelly immensely. They even had a heated exchange once (V & Shelly) in the media room this year at a clippers game. If Shelly didn't love don she could have left him and took a billion dollars years ago.

GUMMO I meant to quote your post and respond. No one would dare say this is out of character for Don because he has 4/5 times in his 40+ years owning the team had similar comments flare up. Anyone that would publicly support him now in the media would be annihilated. Many people have called them expressing sadness, a few expressing support but it would be insane to say anything publicly

Took that Pic at restaurant Don and the crew eats at before every game. It's a VIP area above staples and I thought it was funny a couple warrior fans were eating and talking smack not realizing Don was sitting next to them. May be the last time he eats there, pretty crazy how fast things change

I realize there are a lot of things to consider, but someone needs to do it (tell the media and people to deal with it).

He has billions, he would survive, and his rep with them is unsalvageable anyway. Might as well do something noble and stand up to them, regardless of his personal opinions.

The attacking and bullying of everyone who doesn't agree with the views of the mass media is a more important issue

What's most important to the sterlings is to survive this news cycle and eventually get the team in the hands of Joanne, Chris , Eric (Joanne's hubby) and the grand kids. Don & Shelly adopted 3 kids ( sadly one passed away) and passing the team onto those kids is the most important thing to the family. They have immense wealth and security, that won't change regardless of these events. The team is so important to the family that taking a stand which won't change anything is not even a consideration. No one has done it. No one has stood up to this media machine and said "screw you media, you can't control and shape the thoughts of individuals and society by bullying people with negative coverage.

If he would do it, other people who find themselves in these circumstances in the future could do the same instead of capitulating and back peddling like everyone else has done.

The way the media wields it's power today is much more dangerous than an old guy not wanting his gf to hang out with blacks or not wanting to rent to them.

Centaur you are wrong on this one. Don is not the person to lead this fight. He does not have the moral high ground. Due to his past inflammatory comments he could never be the one leading the fight.

I am sure you have hear of rosa parks, she is even mentioned in this thread. Rosa was a great woman with dignity and as you know refused to give up her seat on the bus. Parks received national recognition, including the NAACP's 1979 Spingarn Medal, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Congressional Gold Medal, and a posthumous statue in the United States Capitol's National Statuary Hall. Upon her death in 2005, she was the first woman and second non-U.S. government official to lie in honor at the Capitol Rotunda

did you know she was not really the first?? She was preceded by nine months by mrs Claudette Colvin, a unwed pregnant black teenager....

For a long time, Montgomery's black leaders did not publicize Colvin's pioneering effort because she was a teenager and became pregnant while unmarried. Given the social norms of the time and her youth, the NAACP leaders worried about using her to represent their movement.[1][2]

the NAACP leadership was very smart to not use Mrs. Colvin as the face of the movement. A woman like Rosa Parks was a much more compelling dignified person to rally around.

One last point and I have made it before. Don personally never was accused of discriminating in his housing practices, he has HUNDREDS OF BUILDING MANAGERS and the case was built around a few of their actions. THIS IS NO DIFFERENT THEN IF MICROSOFT EMPLOYEES TREAT YOU UNFAIR THE LAWSUIT COMES OUT OF BILL GATES AND THE SHAREHOLDERS POCKETS. BILL GATES DOESNT DIRECTLY HAVE TO BE AT FAULT.

The more I hear and read the more I realize what a POS this guy really is.....This story, if true, is worse:

Seven years ago, Clippers assistant coach (and later head coach) Kim Hughes was diagnosed with prostate cancer. It was an aggressive form of the disease and Hughes understandably didn't want to wait to have the surgery - or miss part of the season - so he opted to have it done by an out-of-network doctor that wasn't covered by the team's insurance policy.
(One can only guess what company Sterling selected for that gig).
The surgery came to more than $70,000 and Sterling refused to foot the bill, saying if he paid for Hughes' cancer treatment he'd have to pay for every Clipper employee who found himself (a) with cancer and (b) needing a doctor not covered by insurance.
Makes sense. After all, the man had over 100 employees and he's only worth $1.5 billion. You do the math.
But Hughes had his surgery. And now we know his own players - Corey Maggette, Elton Brand, Chris Kaman and Marko Jaric... already saddled with the indignity of being Clippers - stepped up and paid Hughes' bills.
So while Sterling slips on his nightcap and enjoys a small saucepan of gruel before crawling into bed tonight, I'm sure he tucked himself in secure in the thought that since Clippers players paid for Hughes' surgery and he pays the players ... well, you know.

James D what's the deal with that?

Sterling is only saying things that alot of people think. Lot of white people dont like black people. Lot of white people dont want to hang out with black people. Same thing vice versa.

Did you see this story I linked below anywhere? It's from 3 weeks ago and it's fact. He donated 3 million this month to UCLA transplant program. just because this Kim Hughes story is on the internet doesn't make it true. Tmz ( and they usually get things right) reported the sterlings are separated for years. That is complete fiction they went on vacation a few weeks ago to the carribean and Columbia and don't live separately at all. They have multiple residences in LA but stay together ( except when fighting like everyone else) .

The ethics of an opinion or view are irrelevant.

Tell me the truth does is this documented true story making the rounds?? No it isn't and I wonder why
