What's it worth? A major sportsbook's domain name with .eu and .ag?
What would it be worth do you think?
If you had bought on the free open domain market the .eu and/or .ag extensions to one of the biggest offshore sportsbooks currently using only .com and .mobi?
Good points, see the thing is alot of the books have preemptively changed to .eu, as if they wait to be siezed it's too late.
And you can do business anywhere with a .eu, and no worry of seizure.
I'm assuming that they do business in the US already and intend to continue to do so.
Other points/questions that come to mind:
a) I'm just not that familiar with domains. How recognized is .eu? Would there be a big drop-off in traffic if they used .me, .tv, .biz or some other domain?
b) The maximum sale value you'd get would be correlated to the size of the business (or potential business). How big is the site in question?
c) Are they licensed in the EU? If not, is there any danger of the .eu domain being seized at some point?
so this is the new strategy huh, instead of picking winners you are resorting to purchasing EU domain names in hopes of blackmailing the books in the future
They can take it back with a lawyer and you will get nothing. But our lawyer is charging us $5,000 to get back a domain for SBR. I would of been happy to pay the guy who grabbed it $4,000. I'd rather give him $4k than our lawyer get 5. In any case all .eu, .ca, ect., can be taken back by the .com company.
