barring a major injury sea is winning the superbowl

#108Personally I think Saints just as fraudulent as panthers in the long run...neither SB contender...saints too soft, panthers no offense, and Brees has 1 turnover last night? And for what its worth his arm was moving forward so if the lineman hadn't caught it it would have hit the ground and been incomplete(what happens in most cases). I think last night is a prime example of brees not turning it over. He had the worst environment ever and average less than 2 seconds to throw and didn't throw a pick....4 picks in his last 9 games...I'm just looking for you to tell me either A. Why/how Carolina can score 24-30 points if they aren't giftwrapped in TOs...or B. Why Carolina's D can hold Brees below 24 considering what happened last night and the unlikelihood of a repeat...game in carolina might be a diff outlook but there is literally no way Saints lose this game at home...27-17Comment -

My main problem with the Saints is they don't do the two things that any successful NFL team has to do. Run the football. And stop the run. You can get away with not running the football when you have Brees, but at some point in a big game you have to run the ball. And yes they did stop Lynch yesterday, but they pretty much sacrificed stopping the run for getting torched in the secondary.
Panthers have the make up of a great football team. Great defense, great running game, they can control the clock, they don't turn the ball over, etc. My only complaint with the Panthers is I think they are still weak in the back end. Unlike the Seahawks, I think Brees will be able to take advantage of that Panthers secondary.Comment -

#114IMO, Saints were kind of an illusion all year long. First off, everyone was giving way too much kudos to Rob Ryan and the defense. I don't care how great of a D-Coordinator you are, you don't go from being one of the worst defenses in the history of the NFL, to being a top 5 defense in less than a year. It just doesn't happen. By the end of the year, everything will average out and they will be a middle of the pack defense statistically. Should be a great game on Sunday.

#115I just don't get where we have the preconception that it takes a top defense to stop carolina. Carolina has not torched anyone with a semblance of a D...7 vs seattle, 6 off a bye in AZ, 20 in miami, 10 in sanfran...those are the best 4 Ds they've played...Even if you say Saints are 10 points worse than those teams defensively (overstatement), you still got Carolina at ~20 points...agree that saints can't run but they have good screen play and good TE play to offset in the short yard situations. I'd argue you prolly don't want to run much on carolina either way. I'm telling you this could be a play of the year...Carolina is going to be getting the money in NO...think about the absurdity of that alone...
Hard to ever bet against Brees on primetime in the dome, but I think they got a lot working against them for this game. Panthers will be physical with them. Cam should run wild on the turf. Don't foget Saints are pretty much down 2 days of prep because they didn't fly out of Seattle until Tuesday morning because of airplane trouble.
If Rodgers were to stay healthy, I think the Packers are a bigger threat in the NFC than the Saints. Rodgers can play in any weather, and they have a running game.Comment -

#121Seattle should get to the SB easy since they aren't going to have to face TB or HOU again, those powerhouse teams.
In the SB, not a home game, is a different story. They are getting way too much credit when they are not a great road team.Comment -

#124Lol you barely beat the Seahawks at home. In a game that meant everything to SF, and almost nothing to Seattle. Last time I checked, Niners lost by like 70 combined points their last two trips to Seattle.
And it doesn't matter, road to superbowl goes through Seattle. Kapernick ain't doing shit in Seattle.Comment -
