Atlanta Braves Moving In The Burbs In 2017

I'd tell you what. This is the smartest decision the Braves have ever made. I hate the location of Turner Field. It's impossible to park and you can get mugged if you turn in the wrong street.

They are moving to Cobb County since the Braves AAA team is already in Gwinnett Co.

Fulton County stadium was my last visit to see the Braves, I always sat behind the Jackaroo sign in right. No better place to be for batting practice and Fred Mcgriff homers

Yeah lived there for 12 years and went to HS @ the rock. Went to many games at Fulton for both the Falcons and the Bravos. I personally like Turner field other than the parking . Where in Cobb are they moving them? Probably catch them now that there closer to the Perfect game Prospect tourney in E.cobb. I travel to every summer

Awesome news. Love The Ted and all...but, attendance needed a boost. People shyed away from the cross-town commutes down to the current location as it is now.

Rumors we may get Brandon Phillips for Uggly?? Not really meant to hijack here, Im just all fukkin nostalgic now. I wish I lived closer to ATL, had to go to Rockies game to see Chipper's last game, it got rain delayed for two hours, I stayed for the whole thing drunk as hell by the time it finished (we won 12-10).

They say it will be at the intersection of 75 and 285. Who knows if they put it next to the Hooch we could catch home runs in the water like they do in San Francisco.

It could be bad on weekdays on night games. However since most people work around that area, close to 400 and 285 it will increase attendance since it will become a popular place to go to games after work and in the summer the families will bring the kids to the ballpark since it will be a short drive back home.

I live next to the Gwinnett Braves stadium and the place is packed every time we go cause people don't want to drive to downtown with their kids.

They will be on the hook but Cobb Co can afford it since they are in 6% sales tax compared to 9% in the city of Atlanta. Also the options the Braves had was either pay $350 million to upgrade Turner Field or pay $200 for a new stadiumin Cobb.

They only said I75 & I285 intersection in reports. Being familiar with the area I think they will want to place it somewhere with some existing infrastructure like Cobb Galleria.

Why should taxpayers be footing the bill for a stadium for a private business? It would be one thing if the stadium was open to the public and teams and groups could reserve the stadium for their games or outings or conferences or whatever when it was available but it is not. I find the public financing of professional sport team stadiums the most ridiculous thing ever....and not to mention the stadium they are moving out of is less than 20 years old in perfect condition. Yeah I get why they are doing it...but they did not think of the location before?

It would be one thing if the stadium was open to the public and teams and groups could reserve the stadium for their games or outings or conferences or whatever when it was available but it is not. I find the public financing of professional sport team stadiums the most ridiculous thing ever....and not to mention the stadium they are moving out of is less than 20 years old in perfect condition. Yeah I get why they are doing it...but they did not think of the location before?
Well the County will make money from sales taxes, property taxes, etc from revitalizing the area. So it's not really the taxpayers who foot the bill. It's the businesses who off course depend on the customers to stay profitable. They are not going to ask the taxpayers for a $100 check each to build the stadium.

Impressive they pulled this off without leaking it to the press.

Now Atlanta has a relatively newer Unused baseball stadium close to downtown

What a ripoff, a 17 year old stadium isn't good enough anymore? If these new cathedrals teams play in are such great deals, how come rich people aren't investing in them instead of taxpayers?

Don't forget that Turner Field wasn't built for the Braves. It was built for the 96 Olympic games and then they pass it on to the Braves. The Braves were just leasing it from the city.
