Everyone is talking about the way Wacha has pitched in the playoffs, which is warranted, but how about how Lackey has pitched ALL SEASON at home? He has been absolutely lights out. And I saw someone say he's never pitched well in a "clutch" situation - What....? Must have missed his rookie year with the Angels, Game 5 of the ALCS a few years back against the Yankees and also Game 2 in this World Series. He came out of that game with a 2-1 lead over the guy that everyone on this site wants to blow. Give me the 10 year vet who is great at home and has about 30 more pressure packed starts under his belt than the kid who is on a hot streak for a cold team on the road. The Cardinals are dead. Tonight, not tomorrow.
The Cardinals will NOT win Game 6

#38Interesting to note that someone so certain that Boston will win is not betting on them.Nasher all that and you end with mythical nonsense like fox and mlb want a Game 7 so Cards will win tonight.
I'm not fading Wacha but I'm not backing him either. I'm as big a fan of his as anyone but he was skating on thin ice last game for the first time all postseason. Boston's disciplined approach was finally getting to him.
Nasher you need to know when its time to turn in your chips and cash out. That is exactly what I am doing here. The Cards are done.Comment -

#47I love Michael Wacha. I think the kid is an absolute stud and I've been riding him but I can't back the Cards tomorrow night.
Wacha might pitch a decent game but this is likely the test that he can not quite conquer just yet. This team has been pushed to the brink and now it all rides on a kid who was in Triple A not too long ago.
Anyways this isn't really about Wacha. It's about the Cardinals and how they are dead as a doorknob. Stick a fork in em.
Anyone who takes St. Louis in Game 6 is severely misguided. I will be on the Sox yet again.
I do think the sox win the series but I believe it will be in game 7, This St. louis Cards team has been resilient all year. Every time you count them out they rise to the occasion. They are and have been resilient. They seem to play their best when you think they are up against it. Ill take Wacha, a rested and strong bullpen and a resilient team in this must win game. It seems inevitable Fenway Park Game 7.Comment -

Like I said in my previous thread for Game 5, the tide of this series changed when Gomes hit that homerun in Game 4. Boston seized control and they won't loosen that grip.Comment -

What exactly did the OP say?
I just reread post 1, and it's about as deep as a puddle, and beyond vague.
OP opens up with "I love Michael Wacha"
As a pitcher, I do too.
Then he says I think he's a stud.
Ditto.
Than he says I can't back him.
OK, tell me why you can't back him Mr. OP?
Before he continues he say he may pitch a good game.
That's not a reason to fade him, is it? It's more of a lukewarm endorsement than anything else.
OP continues to say the Cardinal team has been pushed to the brink.
Well yeah, Captain Obvious, you remember 7-8 weeks ago when the Pirates went on that tear to actually tie the Cards in the standings, and the Reds started closing like a freight train?
Cards didn't wilt, they clubbed both teams back to where they came from, and wound up winning the division with no drama attached.
Sounds like a team that can stand up to adversary to me.
Then the OP says this is a test he can conquer yet?
Whaaaaa? He conquered the same test in the NLCS. Were you not watching?
Then the OP tells me it all rides on a kid that was in the AAA aa little while ago.
#1. If you are made of the right stuff, by that I mean if you can perform at a stellar level in the bright lights, in the big city, age and professional experience is not a factor.
And the kid has all the right stuff I alluded to, don't take my word for it, take the words of advanced scouts that actually get paid to do that.
What does a few starts in the AAA have to do with anything.
It was 1) a roster move, not a demotion, and 2) got him steady work, on a regular 5 day rotation, and stretched him out so he can become the seven inning pitcher he was after his recall.
OP is suggesting Wacha is an AAA pitcher.
Open this link, look at it hard, tell me at what, or any level has this young man every showed signs he will not be an elite pitcher.
If you want to go further back, he was All Everything in HS in the state of Texas, amongst a gazillion of other HS talented pitchers, he was Texas's best.
Here, open this, where is the weakness?
Look at the SO9 column on the right.
Those are X-Box numbers
Finally OP tells me, stick a fork 'em, the Cards are though.
I am still waiting for a reason from the OP as to why they are though.
What you are telling me is you have a feeling the Cards are through, you have not given me a logical reason as to why, what you are telling me is you have a gut feeling.
Sorry, I need more than a gut feeling to fade the Cards.
So, I am misguided for betting St. Louis am I?
I am guided by the facts and figures in front of me, the data all points to St. Louis.
Misguided is the absolute wrong word to useComment -

Did it change when salty through it away?
Did it change when Breslow through it away?
Did it change on a once in a lifetime obstruction call for a loss?
No but it changes on a HR?
Cards may lose tonight but not because tide changed.

So was Pettitte and Greg Maddux, twice. Insignificant and not a relevant point.
Actually a misleading statement.Comment -

#58No they don't.
Every time suggests each and every time.
What the Cards have proven though is they have answered the bell several times in the past in situations like this.
They have proven they can perform and succeed in spots like this. They have done it before, they can do it again, will they????? Let's see, my money is on yes after looking at all the data.
