nothing is wrong with dropping out for making money- anyone should do it for the right opportunity...I was there during dotcom boom as well...lost job twice...two companies in LA...realized quickly that getting funky with Java is not for me....

I left SJSU early for that same reason also. Never got into grad school there because they said I need "more classes" The most influential department professor kept pushing Java as the primary language (I think you know he's the one that sold his company to one of the largest ones in that field now, and he also banged all the students - at least he married the Asian one he liked that was 20-30 years younger). I never thought Java was the answer to everyone's problem.

Started up 2 companies on my own - it's been tough, but at least I make $$ now. Are you still in tech or doing something else now? I run a hedge fund and a data analytics service.

I had a modeling and talent agency in LA for a few years...they even wrote an article about my up and coming business in LA Times ....the business was a total disaster, it was fun though...banging all the wanna be models an actresses on the daily - can't say no to that.
For the last 7 years I've been trading stocks, commodities and currency...working for myself...setting my own hours and so on - you know how it goes.
