Depends, the Marlins best chance is to lock him up now and void out his arbitration years. If they let him get close to free agency he will be traded. They have been using this strategy for years and sadly enough it has worked for them with two World Series titles. Way more than most teams.

they will still have him next year for about 500,000

and then he'll hit arbitration eligible before the 2015 season. Marlins will still have him for 3 more years of control if they were to go to arbitration.

my guess is, that they'll wait until a good portion of the 2014 season goes by, before they make any offers of an extension and avoiding arbitration. got to do your due diligence and take advantage of the fact that he comes cheap for 2 years (most rookies you get 3 years but he will be a super-two)
