I'd say pretty likely, but they might only score one exactly. Most opportunistic fukks I have ever seen.

Don't think they have named an official starter. Either Bracewell or Cox from what I have read. Both have good numbers, but both haven't pitched in weeks - so rust is a real possibility. Really doesn't matter who starts, they go to the bullpen early. Miss. State has been a bit mistake prone - like last night, so they'll probably hand UCLA a golden opportunity or three to score off errors, walks, passed balls, wild pitches, etc.

sorry pal
but wouldnt you check on that before you bet the farm? this was before game 1 since fitts already pitched but you get the idea
Thanks to a heavy reliance on its bullpen, it's hard to say that Mississippi State has starting pitching at all. Coach John Cohen essentially uses his starters as set-up men for his dominant relievers, and you'll rarely see a starter work past the early innings. In nine tournament games, Bulldog starters have stayed past the fifth inning only three times.
All three of those long starts came from Kendall Graveman, the staff's only true starting pitcher. In his three tournament outings, the right-handed sophomore is 2-0. Trevor Fitts will likely take the mound for Game 2. He has been servicable in the tournament, but has pitched only 7⅓ innings through his three starts.

Fitts pitched yesterday. Only last 1.1 innings. Graveman is a long shot to maybe pull a Carlos Rodon on three days rest, but most seemed to think they would not use him since he pitched last Friday. He did only throw 74 pitches though, so I would not be totally shocked to see him get the nod since they are usually prepared to go to the pen as early as the 3rd any way.
If they do a shocker and let Pollorena, their senior lefty start, you oughta have a run early.

It's Pollorena to start tonight. If they don't have a run in the 1st 3-5 innings, Miss. State wins tonight. They should get one off him IMO even as anemic as they are .. but the lefty on lefty thing could be interesting.

That and a stadium that doesn't work with the prevailing wind blowing in 99% of the time. I know purists got pissed at Rosenblatt and Gorilla Ball, but I'd take that any day. Rosenblatt is where pitchers had to PITCH. TD Ameritrade, guys do not get punished often for making mistakes up in the zone.

That was a reputation out to end the inning. Nice throw, but the runner got in before the tag. Hunter Renfroe = big gun.

Eh I need him to get touched up a little bit more to try to cash 1st Five Over 3. From the looks of it, Miss. State doesn't look like they're going to be adding much. I don't think Pollorena is gonna be around more than this inning if that ... kinda the way Miss. State does it, especially if he is still getting hit.

If you can predict all the little mistakes that the other team is going to make, sure you could make UCLA a bigger favorite - but you never know how the game is going to go. On a talent level, it should be a pick 'em. UCLA has the pitching edge for its starter regardless of who Miss. State would have thrown, but bullpens are even. Miss. State has the better offense, but UCLA pitching has shut it down like it shut everyone down - but the majority of the Bruins games have been close and low scoring. There's no way the line was going to be a lot different than it was.

This ballpark is a joke. Renfroe mashed that ball and it pushed the LF barely to the last of the grass before the Warning Track. If they are not going to change the bats, they need to move the fences in at least 5-10 feet to reward some of these hitters for cranking these pitches.

They're at the normal Minor League standard.
Arizona plays in what was a Minor League park, and benefited greatly as a result of that training for being successful in a big park last year.
College baseball is a joke anyway. Because of those bats.
