Best Physical Books to read on Sports Betting?

As you can imagine, if you try to do an SBR search for anything with the term 'book', you get a million results, very few of them having to do with a physical book you can read.

Wondering if someone can link me to, or give me recommendations on the best authored books out there relating to sports betting and gambling professionally.

I'm reading random articles and such online but I have a voracious appetite when it comes to consuming knowledge of a subject I'm temporarily obsessed with. Want to read about consistent sports betting pro's and books with angles and strategies relating to sports betting that are unique or interesting.

The odds is a really good read. Not a "how-to" by any stretch, but an interesting read nevertheless. Especially if you go to Vegas quite a bit.

We actually went to eat at Hugo's Cellar right after I read this book. Wasn't too bad.

Just bought 'Without a Tout' by Thomas W. Miller, looks like a good intro into stat-based models.

Agreed, Dollars2Donuts and anyone else looking for a read that is both educational and entertaining, Smart Money is the best I've read of the bunch so far. An incredible snapshot of a few years in the life of one of the biggest sports bettors in history, some of his thoughts, approaches and alot of funny circumstances.

It's an absolute breeze to read. Not so much informative as it is entertaining. You can order it from Amazon.

WeighingThe Odds is ok...has a couple good chapters. Especially one about MLB.

It's a bit outdated but Sharp Sports Betting by Stephen Wong is very good. The tables in the book are very useful when betting football.

Look at financial modeling books. Most of the sports analytics books out there rarely go into depth about advanced statistics and modeling methods.

"Casual players define results in terms of dollars won or lost. This simple mistake alone has amateurs well along the path to failure. Actual dollar results are irrelevant, insignificant, inconsequential, immaterial and completely meaningless."

Also, Conquering Risk is pretty good, although I'd say take the model sections with a grain of salt. Much more sophisticated things can and should be done than what Justin presented there. And I have a sneaking suspicion that he may have only presented a watered down, "cartoonish" version of his actual modeling approach, but it's enough to get some ideas of your own, if that's what you choose to pursue.
