How do I calculate the average of a set of moneylines?
Let's say I've made 10 MLB Moneyline bets over the last few days. The lines were as follows:
    1. -118
    2. +148
    3. +122
    4. -166
    5. -143
    6. +105
    7. +142
    8. -120
    9. +115
    10. +137

If I wanted to know what the average of these lines were how would I figure it out? Any help is appreciated.

Convert to decimal, add them all up, divide by 10. Convert back to American.

Just assign a regular number to each ML value and move up and down accordingly based on the numerical value and the (+/-) sign.
Then just add them up and average it out till you get a number you can then convert back to an original betting value fro ML.

        ie: (-110) = 0
        (-111) = 1
        (-112) = 2
        (-113) = 3....etc

        And do the opposite for DOG values (+100) = 0, (+101) = 1, (+102) = 2
        (+110) = 10....etc

This is the only way I could think of as well but I thought there might be an easier way. So with the 10 Lines that I posted I came up with an average line of +102.4. That doesn't seem right.

Can you not just add them up and divide by the count?

Not 100% sure on the .4 part, but just doing some quick math, 102 is correct.

For future reference, another way to do it, just forget the 100 base, and deal with -118 as -18, or +105 as 5. Add them up that way, then divide by 10, you get 2.2, add that back to your 100 base, and boom, 102.2, a little easier then doing the conversions twice.

Obviously, if you get a negative, don't subtract it, but if you get -5, then that is -105.

there is an easier way. just add them up using only the part that is more or less than 100. -18+48+22 etc. then divide by 10. you get 2.2.
add that to your baseline of 100.

                      beat me to it.
