Because if Durant doesn't win a title at the age of 24 his legacy is ruined? Come on. Durant has another 10 years to win some titles before his legacy is ruined.
How old were Jordan and Lebron when they won their first titles? Durant's time will come after Lebron's just like Lebron's came after Kobe's and Kobe's came after Jordan.
The Heat are loaded and simply a better team than OKC. If Durant can overcome it and win a title this year it would be truly amazing.
westbrook will not win a ring with durant. you'll see. that will always be talked about forever in history. those two will never win together. there is something deeper there behind the scenes. westbrook is a selfish player and he won't be winning any rings with durant and certainly won't be winning one as the main go to guy on a team. durant needs to play with a true pg not some pg that's taking more shots than perhaps the best offensive player in the nba.

Since Durant and Westbrook have been together.
Miss playoffs
Lose in first round to NBA champs
Lose in Conference Finals to NBA champs
Lose in NBA finals to the NBA champs.
So they've gotten better every year and were only three games from winning a title last year. I don't know how you can say they won't win a title together when they were playing for one together last year as 23 year olds.
Obviously the Heat are a better team but think how good this duo will be in 3-4 years. Durant can still get stronger and Westbrook will mature.
I will not be surprised if OKC loses to the Clippers in the second round. The second round is going to be their toughest test in the West. They would have been better off playing Denver or Golden State in the second round. I predicted OKC would lose in the second round before the season anyway.

The Harden trade will prove to be a major setback. If they face Miami again Lebron will once again slow down KD and it will be in the hands of Russ.

The same reason Mo couldn't control Iverson. Maybe the Sixers wouldn't have 8 coaches in the last 9 years if AI didn't run Mo outta town.
Westbrook isn't selfish he just has fukkin ADD or somethin. Gets himself all worked up. Can't keep his emotions steady over the course of a game.

Harden sucked against Miami.
The loss of Harden will hurt them more against teams like the Spurs. But yeah, I don't see how I can say they're a better team, despite a better winning percentage, when they lost Harden.
Westbrook can take over a game. He is part of the reason OKC has been top 2 in the West three years in a row. I was in favor of keeping Harden and trying to get Chris Paul while dealing Westbrook but that didn't happen. OKC has to hope Durant and Westbrook grow together and Russ matures.
There were also rumors around here of trying to get Rhondo and Jeff Green back from the Celtics for Westbrook but that will never happen.
Rondo and Paul are the only two point guards I would take if OKC were to move Westbrook.

You're 100% right. Him and Durant get along fine. They hang out off the court all the time. It's not that Westbrook is a baby, he just trys to do too much sometimes and gets out of control. Then he shows emotion and gets pissed.
This isn't a Kobe/Shag type of relationship.

Why is he selfish? Because he shoots? So what, he's a good player. He should be shooting. He's just a headcase but that's different.

They've gotten better every year because they were stacked with talent. They had Harden too, don't forget. They had a top 3 player, then a top 15 player in westbrook, and a top 20 player in Harden. That's why they kept improving. They will take a step back this year.
Westbrook can't be taking more shots than Durant. His PPS, which is all that matters, is always less than Durant's. Always. Even if he drops 30 the guy need 28 shots to get 30 points. Durant drops 30 on like 18 19 shots.
When was the last time a shoot first PG that was the best or 2nd best player on the team won a ring? I think never.

When they had the best player in the world they were .5 games up on the Jazz for the last spot in the playoffs going into the final two days of the season.

I don't neccessarily disagree with anything you said, however, OKC has better record when Westbrook takes more shots.
T-Wizz is right, OKC has two guys that fill it up. There is nothing wrong with Westbrook taking shots when he can drop 40 on any given night.
Durant is a lot more efficient but OKC needs Westbrook to score.

Durant can also be taken out of games. Westbrook has the ball in his hands so much, it's really not surprising he shoots as much as he does especially when he is quicker than any player guarding him and can pull up and knock down mid-range shots better than most players.
KD is efficient but he also stands on the perimeter a lot. When he gets going he's basically unstoppable but he still gets pushed around.

That's not a 7 game series. Anyone can beat a team for 1 game. It changes in the playoffs. You can't have the same gameplan for 7 games. It won't work against a team like LA. Lakers will still have a good chance to beat the Spurs even without Bryant. You'll see how guarding two 7 footers will be difficult for them over the course of a series. Wait until games 3 4 5 when Duncan starts getting beat up down low and loses his legs.

bro KD can't be taken out of games anymore. The only guy that can slow him down somewhat is James. KD can pull up in Lebron's face all day if needed. I just think that Westbrook is taking too many shots. Look at how miami spreads it around. Look how many shots Wade has taken this year. I think it's still obvious that Wade can drop 35 anytime he wants if he takes 25 shots. The guy takes like 15 shots a game and shoots a way better percentage than Westbrook.
Efficiency frm star players wins championships. Watch how CP3 teaches westbrook a lesson.

CP3 scores when he needs to. Guy rarely feels like putting up more than 10 shots a game but if they need him to score he drops 25 pts at will along with facilitating for others.

The Harden trade will hurt OKC in the short run but help them in the long run. Sam Presti was looking at the big picture. I know for fact Harden made it clear he would only resign for max money and a starting role. Can't blame the guy, he deserves it.

I agree with Kraken on this. The Harden trade will cost them this year when they don't make it back to the Finals. In the long run, though, there was really no way they could give him the $$$ he was looking for, so they had to let him go -- especially with so much invested in Westbrook.

sometimes I wonder if Lakerboy is serious...he has never picked a favorite and when his underdog hits (about 20% of the time) he beats his chest like he's a genius. He actually was a good bettor back in 2010, but since then he's become even more racist and a waste of space. I wonder how many bad things he's done in his life to deserve such bad karma.

You can't blame Harden for going somewhere else for more money and a longer contract. Who wouldn't do that? No hard feelings.

OKC had to trade Harden. They simply couldn't keep him when they were already paying Durant, Westbrook, Perkins, and Ibaka.
Harden wanted what he was worth and OKC couldn't pay that.
The only thing was, they could've traded him in season rather than before the season. But he had to be dealt.

hilarious. you'll see what happens when the time comes.
paul is way craftier than westbrook, a better defender, better passer, better shooter, and much much better with the ball. paul might have the best handle i've ever seen in nba history. probably even better than magic just as far as handle. obvioulsy not as a complete player.
