Yankees making a play for Chipper Jones

    per rotoworld-
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Monday that he plans to reach out to Chipper Jones' agent.

It's worth a shot, but all indications are that Chipper is happy in retirement. Even if he did entertain the idea of returning it would surely be with the Braves, who could use some help at the hot corner. Cashman is looking for someone that can help out at the corner infield spots with Mark Teixeira sidelined. He's also reached out to Derrek Lee and Scott Rolen.

I guess Cashman actually fell on his head too in that skydiving accident.

if you could sign him for a couple mil it'd be a no brainer but like downsouth said theres no way he'd play with anyone else

and he'd be stupid not to ask for 12+ mil

if Lee were healthy, and i'm sure he is by now. I think the guy actually would have quite a bit left in the tank.

guy raked in his last 2 months of pro ball, even battling some injuries.

he'd only be 37 or so by now

Julio Franco still has a few at bats left in him.

Zero chance of Chipper playing for the Yankees. He is like 50 lbs overweight right now. His knee will blow up if he tries to run with this weight.

Better chance for Yankees signing Frank Thomas or Albert Belle.

                                  if that's correct then o/u on chipper's lifespan = 52.5

the sad part about this is its probably true with all these bad defensive catchers getting put in the mix

This sounds right up the Yankees alley. I agree, no way he comes back, and if he did it would be Atlanta. Maybe the Yanks really are that desperate though.
