Are the Minnesota Timberwolves Too White?

I was watching NBA on TNT a few months back and saw something I never thought I'd ever see in my life time. I saw an NBA team out there with all five of it's starters on the floor as white guys. It was Minnesota and I think they were playing Portland.

I couldn't believe it.....I mean how did that happen? Granted Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio are pretty good so I can see that being two of them....but then I see Andrei Kirilenko, Nikolai Peckovic and Luke Ridnour on the floor as well starting?

Cmon....Luke Ridnour is not a starter.

I think chances are it had to be a conscious effort. It sure does get them voted in as the game to watch by the fans a lot.

They would be a playoff team if love Rubio and budinger weren't all out for basically the whole season. Kirilenko has been hurt a few times as well. If that whole team is healthy, they will be decent. Obviously wont be winning any rings but much better than this bust of a year

Pekovic avarages 15.9 and 8.8 while being paid less than 5M. Kirilenko is better than avarage but he is most likely there for veteran presence. Shved, the other russian, might be an all star after few years, if all goes well for him. Rubio is overated but he seems to fit in nba well. Love is their best player when healthy. Add a bunch of white role players and theres your 5 white players on the court.

completely agree. Budinger and Love are the best shooters on that team. Their offense has struggled way too much this year. If Derrick Williams is starting on your team...you know you are fukked

It's hard to say they're too white since a lot of them are Euro players. Yeah those guys are still "white" but not in the sense we mean when we talk about white NBA players.

If they were fielding an entire team of Kevin Love type "white guys" I'd be a lot more intrigued/impressed.

Well, we've busted 3 draft picks on guys like Wes Johnson, Michael Beasley and Ellington. Now, I completely understand coach Adelman when he traded them away and took players that can actually fit into ANY kind of system. Hopefully, next year they are all healthy and we go for the playoffs.
