#11No way he's getting traded...firstly the GM has already stated NO.
And secondly, they know if Howard starts playing to his potential and Lakers make a run for the playoffs - he will likely resign with them next year and they have their guy after Kobe. Sure it's a gamble cuz if Howard and the Lakers continue their struggles, he probably leaves but they have no choice but to take a gamble here.Comment -

again, no1 is saying why howard would want to resign
when all signs indicate he hates it in LA
once the trade deadline passes, howard has the power the ruin the lakers for the next couple yearsComment -

If they trade him now they might be able to build some young assets and draft picks instead of potentially being stuck with nothing
A gamble either way they play itComment -

#15Yeah but he will be a free agent at the end of this season.....Very good chance Lakers are sitting there with their dicks in their hands when Dwight signs with Houston or Dallas and the Lakers end up with nothing in return

almost every person that says howard stays cannot explain why
did people forget that howard is a free agent at the end of the year????
ALL THE LEVERAGE is his once the trade deadline is gone
remember, howard never wanted to come to the lakers
lakers cant trade him because no team will want to give up any talent unless he signs an extension
why trade for him when he is a free agent in a couple months?
everything points towards him leaving, not resigningComment -

Will be 28 at the start of next season. He's got about three or four years left and he is NOT taking any team to the finals moving forward if he is the main guy.Comment -

#19Dwight Howard will sign with Dallas, maybe Houston..
Cuban, and the GM in Houston are bent on being taken seriously, and have no qualms about overspending.
Look at the deal for Harden/Lin..
Cuban will spend anything, and go broke, just to win again..
he will also do anything to sink the Lakers,so look for that to be a likelihood.
There is no substitute for feeling welcome. and he never felt that in the lockeroom with Kobe..
Kupchak is cool, a different story..
but Howard is not in the lockeroom with Kupchak...
and ultimately it is Kobe that is running the show..
Kobe is really the boss of the organization,
because he controls the media. in LA

All that 30 million would be in the 5th year. When he comes to Texas on a $100 million dollar deal, he makes up more than that simply from the tax savings alone. Zero chance he stays in Los Angeles.
Besides....why he would want to stay with a team that'll be in the lottery for the next decade or so??Comment -

Being a Laker and living in/around L.A. = millions more in endorsements than being a Mav
Stars love to live in Southern California
"lottery for the next decade or so"...come on Opie......this is the Lakers pal

You think he cares at all about the Lakers legacy??Dwight Howard obviously hates being a Laker right now....He never wanted to be a Laker from the start, it was just the only team the Magic would deal with and Dwight gave it a shot
SoCal??? If Dwight loves it that much he can get a house in the offseasonComment -

Lebron with Kyrie Irving in his prime is way more likely......plus Lebron still wants his home to love him no matter what he saysComment -

#28Lebron is not pulling another "decision" with 2 other free agents to the Lakers LOL......It's Cleveland or sticking with Miami, maybe something weird like Knicks or Brooklyn as an outside shotComment
