    NHL tips and cautions...
With 48 in 99 days be careful when wagering. Many back up net minders will get time this season and that can have a heavy impact on totals. Another caution is watch out for teams like Van, Chi, Colum, and Detroit. They will be traveling like jerk offs all over the USA in back to backs with very little down time. Pick your spots and don't wager like a prick. Value is always there, bet smart.

Deuce. I just pound your plays every year and I end up +EV.

I don't plan on doing anything different pal.

Good advice from Deuce. I guess fading teams on 3 out of 4 or 4 out 5 or 5 of 7 will be different cause most will be in the same boat. I give big edge to teams in the east.

                  Sound advice Deuce.

Also, there will be value on younger teams facing older teams in Back 2 Back games. Fatigue / injury will have a major impact on this compressed season.

I agree with you about everything except for the goalies. Many teams will play their starting goalies 40+ times this year, to try to extract as much as possible out of them.
How it will affect them is another matter.

Yes, but how long will it take for them to catch up if they're out of shape?

A guy like Brodeur is going to be 41. If he is out of shape and has to work his way into it while the season is being played, he is going to get lit up like a Christmas tree.

goalies are most of the time in the best shape out of everyone on the ice .. working with 2 diff NHL teams for internships i realized many things about the game of hockey regarding conditioning and positioning ...goalies are always in great shape .. you might be like are u kidding they barely move .. you would be surprised how much skating they do in practice .. its like the kicker in football when he isnt doing anything its probably jogging around keeping loose ...

henrik lundqvist and ryan miller in a tweet said they cant be ready for this season been working out everyday during the lockout to be ready... being in shape for the goalie probably isnt the issue ..

Will see some teams play back ups more than in a full schedule especially on back to backs.

St. Louis will but they did last year too.

pitt has said Vokoun will get a good amount of games.

will see what teams have faith in their backups

I don't worry about the backup goalies too much a lot of times their stats are not much different from the starter. Travel might be something to consider this season though.

With so few games, early games are going to be important.
Teams that open with a few loses might be worth betting against if they start playing like they're already out of the hunt for a playoff spot.

Overs early in the season. Fade the older teams as favorites. I wrote a long list of tips in DG's thread if anyone's interested.

Too many people overestimate on how important a backup goalie is. Most of the time they are as good as starters since the team in front of them adjust play.

I think it will be very difficult to wager on the NHL this season.

yes, some teams have so much more, and in many cases, less confidence in their back-up and how they'll play

Lines rarely change because a back up is in net. It only does when the team is already fairly shit.

My tip would be that it will be far safer this season to bet on teams to win the first few games of extended road trip as they cannot risk having bad road trips.
