my answer was that anything illegal would be prevalent if there were no strict enforcements behind them. singapore does not have a prevalent drug problem because they execute users and sellers. an extreme example but proves my point.

They don't execute like you are trying to claim they do. Only large drug traffickers and people possessing large amounts of drugs like heroin are executed. Amnesty International says there is no evidence that harsh penalties has curbed drug use. Also, drug use in Singapore is on the rise. Get yourself some facts.

What a horrible read this thread has been - I have no one to blame but myself.

Children, the most innocent members of society, probably antsy with anticipation for Christmas, murdered in front of other children.

Instead of simple thoughts of "my heart goes out" or "prayers are with", it's an instant net troll war between the NRA apologists who fight everything including simple things like waiting periods, and the folks who think the 2nd amendment somehow is written in chalk and should be wiped away because someone abused the weapons our culture has been built around.

It becomes an instant blame of occupy people (the same folks who were an army of relief during hurricane sandy), or an indictment of police (the folks who go into these situations knowing absolutely nothing of what they're walking into)

Couple years ago on the late night radio nutty Coast2Coast show, the discussion was "Is the Anti-Christ here". People had their usual ideas (Pope, Obama, Bill Gates etc). One person postulated that to them, the Internet itself was in fact the anti-christ. From the invasion of privacy, anonymous tormenting/bullying, theft of identities, scamming of the elderly etc.

It's moments like these, and threads like these, that make this non-theist wonder if that person and their theory wasn't really that far off.

I hope no one involved with this forum had family directly affected by this tragedy. If you have, my thoughts are with you, and I'd suggest closing this thread for a while.

according to this article, drug use is down in singapore, which is why your buddy newt gingrich himself wanted to pass a similar law executing drug smugglers.
