If you whacked a ten teamer recently it may be a good time to buy some shares of both Apple and Google. Apple is 200 points off its high and Google 125 points off its high. These are two big boys that will set new highs sooner or later and probably on the sooner side.

I think Microsoft is the one to buy...

Even though they keep striking out, one of these days they will hit a homerun...

When they do, the stock will double...

Wouldn't touch apple until I see a business plan that separates them from the competition once again.

There's nothing about that company that suggests their products are still market leading and innovative.
See this company being the Nokia of the mid 2000's.

Basically the rest of the world caught up.

                mcs (marcus)

$14/share in net market value of properties

                $1.50/share/year in cash flow

trading at 10.35 right now, once in a while this stock gets down here around 10 (or even 8) and always bounces right back

I have a position in NOK. I'm not overly impressed. Sold some Jan 14 calls with a $4 strike against them hoping either MSFT can nudge up to them with something interesting, probably not a takeover but maybe take a position in them or some other company takes a shot on them. They have an incredible patent portfolio. Can't talk about AAPL or GOOG in the same thread as NOK. NOK is at least 5 qtrs from turning a profit.

not really too familiar with the stock market. How much is a good amount to start off with and is there any site online where I can open up an account and do my own transactions and avoid all the extra charges.

etrade, ameritrade, scottrade all good and around $10/trade.

amount to "start off with" all depends on your assets/income. i usually recommend just sticking it all in SPY (s&p 500) or DIA (dow 30) unless you really know your stuff on certain companies, like i do with mcs.

The reason it can't move that much or go down much is because there's so many shares outstanding.

Overreacting....sell now and you'll miss the run up to $700. APPLE always does this. Monster quarter lined up for January 24th 2013 earnings.

Companies that pay big dividends quarterly all took a BIG HIT in stock price due to the new tax hikes to be put in effect in 2013. If they decide to pay those dividends in December instead of next year and in Apple's case buy back a lot of their shares it will drive price of stock up.

                                          lol...what

Stock prices are based on a company's growth potential and earnings potential as well it's net income. MSFT's shares outstanding has been in 7-8 billion ranges for eight years now. So what?

It has more to do with nothing being on the horizon as far as a product "game changer" for the company to boost it's revenues that is causing it's price limitations on the open market.

Stock Prices are not based on that. Why do you think there are $1000 stocks with no potential? Look at their number of shares.

It takes huge volume to move a stock with so many outstanding shares.
Microsoft is not going anywhere even if they invent a phone that sucks your dick.
