Lou, the event was in China.

Did you want them to magically change the time zone?

Boxing is for educated sports fans. Hence why its known as the "sweet science".

MMA/UFC is more of a white trash backyard brawl type of event.

Lou you have been making some pretty wacked out threads lately my friend. The Brooklyn Nets are for real and now this.

Lou boxing is beyond dead, it's buried 6 feet under, cremated and never coming back. the fact that UFC and even put on an event in china, have it air 9am on a saturday morning and have good ratings is telling in itself...

I was a big boxing fan back in the 1980's and even the 1990's. And I loved it back then. I also used to have dial-up internet... and I loved that back then as well. Boxing is like Dial-up.

As far as the fans being educated... this may have been true 20 or more years ago. I don't think it still holds true. Especially not when it comes to the fighters. The average Boxer's IQ has to be around 50 points lower than the average MMA fighter. Check out the clip below... one is a Boxer... one is an MMA fighter. The Boxer needs subtitles because he barely speaks English... keep in mind English is the only language that he knows. Btw... Randy Couture(the MMA fighter) beat James Toney's(the Boxer) ass without even breaking a sweat.

Hey fukkhead......where did I say the name "sweet science" had anything to do with the fans? I said "educated fans", which are who recognize that boxing is much more than simply phyisical brawling. A fan with an in-depth understanding of the sport recognizes that boxing is a craft involving every bit as much strategy and forethought as chess.

Now run along to Gaylive, son.

I'd love to see boxing get a couple legit heavyweights again and have some non corrupt big fights.

I miss the buzz a big pay per view event had

now the best fighters won't even get close to getting in the ring together anymore

                                        its sad

You don't think trailer park southern trash use benefits? How do you think they survive? You got millions of southern idiots using government funded things...and voting republican.

You ever read the studies that republicans as a whole are less educated than Dems? It's true.

It's a laugh when republican boxing fans come in here and bash MMA. Goes in line with their prophets, Bill O'Reilly or Hannity. Question....Which is dying out quicker in this country? Boxing or the GOP?

If people called MMA "The sweetest of all sciences", what would that have to do with anything?

I would argue that Boxing is more like Checkers. And I don't mean that as an insult. I'm just saying that the rules are fairly simple and there are very few ways to win. MMA is more like Chess. It's much more complicated and there are several different ways to win.

I remember seeing a good interview with Tyson a while back. He was talking about why boxing wasn't as popular anymore, and it basically came down to one thing. American champions. He talked about how good the Klitchko brothers were and that boxing wouldn't become popular again in America until there were some good, dominant, US heavyweights.

Things like the decision in the last Pacman fight don't do much to help the popularity of boxing lately. I'm a fan of both, but I definitely understand why MMA is winning the popularity contest presently.

This is most definitely true but how many big events does Boxing have a year? 1? And how many big fights are on that card? 1? MMA has events every weekend. And if we are just talking about the UFC they have around a dozen good cards in a year. And the cards are often stacked from top to bottom. If the UFC only had 1 event a year they could pull in big numbers as well.
