Love this idea. They could even make it a tournament. The tests could be something fairly short like the Wonderlic tests. You would get a very short time to answer each question just like they do the trivia so it would be nearly impossible to cheat. 100 Point entry fee. As much as most SBR posters run their mouth I have a feeling their wouldn't be that many that would actually enter it.

There are people that can take an entire car apart, and then put it back together again, without using a manual, yet they couldn't write a single line of computer code. Does that make them stupid, because they can't code? No, it makes them smart in one area, and dumb in another.

There are people that can safely deliver a baby, yet they can't fly a plane, or write a book, or play an instrument. Are those doctors stupid because they can't play the saxophone? No, they're intelligent in one area, and dumb in another.

Nobody is smarter than anybody else; we are just smarter in certain areas, and stupid in others. Some of us just have higher egos that fool us into believing otherwise.

But your definition of intelligence is irrelevant. There are 9 forms of intelligence. There isn't one umbrella that emcompasses all 9 forms. People are equal; everybody is the same. Very true, and I've learned this so much from living in Costa Rica, where the average wage is approximately $600 month. I've never seen such a happier group of people, and they make pennies compared to what many others in America are used to.

IQ tests really measure how good you are at doing tests. The real test of smarts is how good you understand the sentence before this one.

I know that I was smarter than 99% of the posters at Covers, where I used to post, but don't have a sense of how the smart meter reads here yet. Good avatar for Lord Vodka though.

This is known as self serving bias and is increasingly more dangerous for society as our culture shifts further away from a collectivist identity to an individualistic one. Think about all the political decisions made by people who believe themselves to be vastly superior to those they're governing. I scroll through facebook sometimes and wonder how a tool created to connect people turned into a billion people all simultaneously screaming "look how awesome my life is!"

Like many here, I'm just smart enough to realize how dumb I must really be.

This doesn't mean anything. You'd get similar results if you did this poll anywhere. If you went to any school or website and asked "are you smarter than the average person here?" you'd get at least 80% saying yes.

Or if you just polled every adult in the world and asked are they smarter than average.

You could find who people think are the dumbest posters on this site and ask them and they'd of course say they're smarter than average. That's part of the lack of self-awareness thing.
