Any value in playing this Sports Select competition?
I know Sports Select has been covered in the past. Static odds, but the odds suck. What about their pools competitions? Basically just picking straight up winners and whoever picks the most games wins the shared pool prize. The NFL pool reaches a 6 figure prize almost every week.

Western Canada Lottery SPORT SELECT. Online sports wagering. Take your game to the next level with SPORT SELECT! PRO•LINE, OVER/UNDER, POINT SPREAD, PROPS, Pools and Futures are all available.

The Pools tickets are always $5.

Not sure about value, but its fun and you never know.

Some guy here in ontario won over 700,000 a few weeks ago.

There was 15 winners last week that went 13/13 and each won 57,000.

Not bad for a 5$ ticket.

    I went 11/13.

My only 2 losses were Minnesota and 49ers.

      Most winning cards are perfect?

I haven't seen a non-perfect winning card in so long here in Ontario. Payout is always between 600k and 750k total.

I only had two wrong last week as well with Dallas and Oakland. If those two dogs win (they both had chances to win their games late), I'm probably the only winner and thus would have taken down 700k.

Probably for the best though as I don't see myself surviving very long with 700k.

Any value in getting in a group to try and win this thing ?

You could try... but with the payout being different every week (could be $100, could be $100,000), you don't know how much to invest. There's a bunch of other variables that make it difficult.

I mean, I do pick-ems on ESPN and am in a high percentile. However, there's always 3-4 games that are the "hard" ones to pick. Take for example the college football pool. To me, there are really 3-4 games that differentiate most cards of smart players.

It would be interesting then to explore the pool potential, maybe something like 16 tickets covers those hard games and their different outcomes?

There is a results page, seems like CFB is not perfect every week. Also your right though, payouts can vary a lot.

There is a lot of people doing the pool thing.

Last month there was 12 winners in Burlington and many had the same last name.

                    Each winner got $1800,

If most of the faves win there will be many winners obviously.

The "values" right now are :

                      car +3.5
                      tb +3.5
                      stl +7
                      ten +4.5
                      cin +3

But overall sport select is a waste of time and money unless you plan on getting lucky in the pools.

Oh I agree, any smart Canadian gambler gets into gambling since Sport Select is so easily accessible and moves on to better things; that's what I did.

I just wonder when it comes to overall pool size, how much of your $5 is chopped off for the gaming commission.
