Marlins dumped Hanley for $ reasons, but are going to pick up Arod ? Doesn't make sense.

If A-Rod agrees in principle to start juicing again, then yes Miami should jump on this.

UPDATE: Wednesday, October 17 at 8:33 p.m. ET by Ian Hanford
According to ESPN New York reporters Wallace Matthews and Andrew Marchand, the buzz surrounding Rodriguez to Miami has some merit:
According to the source, Loria said in his conversation about A-Rod with Levine, "Alex is Mr. Miami; it would be great if he played here for us."
To which Levine is said to have replied, "You can have him."
In the report, Brian Cashman maintains that all trade notions are false at this point. Rodriguez also responded to the whispers, stating:
I love the Yankees. I love this organization. My focus right now is to help this team come together and win a game. Do not allow all this negativity and questions and gossip stuff or this crap or that crap, let's just focus on winning a game and go from there ... What I will tell you is I hope nothing is going on like that at this point because our only focus, from top to bottom, is to win a baseball game right now.
This is going to take a long time to sort out, with all sorts of crazy rumors surfacing in the process.
Stay tuned for more updates as we wade through what's true and what's false surrounding baseball's aging multi-million dollar man.

UPDATE: Wednesday, October 17 at 6:35 p.m. ET by Ian Hanford
According to MLB.com reporter Bryan Hoch, general manager Brian Cashman denies any discussions surrounding Rodriguez and a trade to Miami:

[<iframe class="twt-follow-button" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets/follow_button.html#align=right&button=gr ey&screen_name=BryanHoch&show_count=fals e&show_screen_name=false&lang=en" style="margin: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important; border-width: 0px !important; outline: 0px !important; vertical-align: baseline !important; background-color: transparent !important; width: 150px !important; height: 20px !important; position: absolute !important; top: 1px !important; right: 0px !important; bottom: auto !important; left: auto !important; z-index: auto !important; float: none !important; min-width: 0px !important; min-height: 0px !important; overflow: visible !important; clip: auto !important; clear: none !important; line-height: 16px !important; word-spacing: normal !important; text-overflow: clip !important; text-shadow: none !important; word-wrap: normal !important; list-style: none !important; cursor: auto !important; border-top-left-radius: 0px !important; border-top-right-radius: 0px !important; border-bottom-right-radius: 0px !important; border-bottom-left-radius: 0px !important; quotes: none !important; opacity: 1 !important; visibility: visible !important; size: auto !important; -webkit-box-shadow: none !important; box-shadow: none !important; direction: ltr !important; page: auto !important; "></iframe>
Yankees GM Brian Cashman says a report of A-Rod discussions with Marlins is "not true."

                ---End of Update---

Keith Olbermann reported the following on his MLB Network blog:
Sources close to both organizations confirm the Yankees would pay all – or virtually all – of the $114,000,000 Rodriguez is owed in a contract that runs through the rest of this season and the next five. One alternative scenario has also been discussed in which the Yankees would pay less of Rodriguez’s salary, but would obtain the troubled Marlins’ reliever Heath Bell and pay what remains of the three-year, $27,000,000 deal Bell signed last winter.
The report also notes that Olbermann’s sources did not discuss “how serious the discussions have already gotten.”
Rodriguez is one of baseball’s most polarizing figures, and has come under a significant amount of scrutiny during the Yankees’ postseason run.
New York is currently down 3-0 in the American League Championship Series to theDetroit Tigers. Rodriguez went 1-for-7 at the plate in the first two games before being benched in the team’s most recent loss

Olbermann heard it from a male prostitute he picked up for the night.

Because it's all BS. This started last week even before he got benched. They're trying to put a fire under his ass and this is how they're doing it. You think they want to eat 80 to 100 mill to get him off the team?

Heath Bell is worse than ARod performance wise and teammate wise. Might as well keep the guy who won't throw gasoline on the fire.

                        this makes zero sense.
trade for him, in the offseason. hope he does well, and trade him at the trading deadline.

I guarantee one thing. If they don't end up moving A-rod, Girardi is gone!!! There's no way they're going through this again next year and managers come cheap.

You have to do something to pump up that deadbeat.

I don't understand this hate for Giradi. he has his team in the ALCS, and all the offensive stars on the yankees have sucked in the playoffs. Why does he deserved to be fired. makes 0 sense to me. Yankees are lucky to have a manager as good as him.

I don't hate him, but if he can't motivate Rodriguez and you're keeping Alex....What's the point in staying with Girardi? A-rod is just going to go through the motions again and you have too much invested in him.

                                    1) His 'my way, or the highway' hard ass mentality doesn't sit well with the clubhouse.
Many players can't play for him, Mike Mussina was one, one of the reasons he retired was because of Girardi.
                                    Mussina couldn't pitch for him.

                                    Riddle me this?
Why does a manager of the year, get fired right after winning the manager of the year award.
                                    Because he's a anal prick, that's why.

                                    2) His anal slavery to the stat binders, he manages a game on the field like I put together a fantasy line up.
                                    Big difference.

                                    3) Because he looks like a Martian.

Could stick it to Levin and Steinbrenner Jr. every way to Sunday and stick around if he wants too.
