Unreal.
If Dusty managed 1,000,000 baseball games, he'd be 500,000-500,000. True definition of mediocre, and mediocrity doesn't win championships.

hes a good manager. hes led every team hes managed to the post season. only downside is he seems to always have brain farts in elimination games.
plus no ones available that is better than him.

Here's my question... Who would be an upgrade over Dusty that's out there RIGHT NOW?
I do agree Dusty chokes in big games, but seriously... name someone better for the job.

My younger brothers friends third cousin Johnny could probably do an equivalent job. Few people alive today have ever been happier in Wrigleyville than when Dusty and the Cubs parted ways.

Fuk outta here. Dusty is the worst shit ever. Do you know what a stroke is? That is lack of blood flow to your brain. Dusty had one a few weeks ago. Who would allow him to come back and manage the post season right after that? Stupid as shit. Reds shit the bed again. Fire every goddam body.

I knew this move was coming Thursday or Friday when they sat down and talked contracts. I assumed it was a 2 year deal or possibly 3 years, but either way he was safe. I don't care who manages the Reds, but I'm definitely tired of Dusty Baker.
419-391 (.517) in 5 Seasons with the Reds and 2-6 in Playoffs, losing both first rounds. Eh

That's the problem: there are so many shitty ex-managers waiting in the wings that the Reds wouldn't find a better alternative. For whatever reason, professional organizations would rather turn to some old washed up veteran who has proven to be worthless than taking their chances on an up-and-comer. A lot of it is because of the "entitlement" factor with franchise vets who don't want to listen to some ex-player that's just a few years older than them.
In other words, the Boston Red Sox to a T.

Good move. Baker is one of the best managers in MLB history. His record is very impressive. He has won everywhere he has been a manager. Before he got to the Reds, they had not been competitive in 10+ years. He is considered a player manager and his players respect him. I know most of you are closet racists and like to express your views on here, so it's no surprise that the racists on here are critical of black managers and head coaches all the time. But as a baseball move, this makes good sense. Only real knock on DB is that his teams have faltered in the post season in excruciating ways.

The guy just managed a team that went 95-67. Yeah, I know the playoff thing did not work out, but the playoffs are all random so I put little weight in evaluating a manager that way. I'd hate to see how you guys react for a really bad manager.

He had a great season. The first four season he was .500 exactly. So very average. He choked in the playoffs. Clearly Cueto getting hurt was huge, but Dusty had his share of lousy decisions. Starting Leake was killer, got away with it for the first 3 innings, but kept rolling the dice and got bombed. I don't think Dusty can win anything more than one round in the post season at best.

I dont see a problem with giving him an extension he leads and takes teams to POST SEASONS. Sure he has a bad post season record, but he brings revenue into the stadium also

He loses 2 playoff series in the first round and you want him gone? In the 3 games the Giants won, I didn't see any moves that were questionable they were just outplayed. I think he has done a fine job, and he definitely sticks up for his players. I think they will get better in time, but you gotta think that the players are the one's that make the plays on the field. All he can do is put them out their, he got them home-field and a great record. They won the Central, and had one of the best teams in baseball. They were up 2-0 with 2 tough road wins. I don't think you can judge him on his playoff record, I think it was the teams lack of experience in the playoffs

Don't know much about the game but the reds made the playoffs 2 out of the past 3 years. They are a good team but not great, wha more do you want from the guy?
