For comparison, the typically highly-rated Sunday Night Football match-up featuring the San Diego Chargers and Baltimore Ravens drew just a 11.3 overnight rating.

The ratings for CBS are even more impressive considering the game wasn't shown in the New York City or Philadelphia markets.

CBS fought hard to keep NBC from moving the game into primetime. And the ratings justified the fight.

Because Pittsburgh has the largest homer fanbase in all of sports. All of them to a fan didn't see this coming. I have several friends that worship Pittsburgh. I told them all week that Pitt would lose and they never even would admit that losing was at least a possibility. You look at Pitt the last few weeks and you saw a team with huge holes. Pitt fans were blinded and continued to bet money on a flawed team.
