Injuries and observations from week 7
    Houston Texans

FS Daniel Manning the defensive backfield captain and signal caller broke his leg on Sunday, leaving the backfield in need of a complete overhaul. With backup Dominique Barber already out, 3rd year reserve Troy Nolan will take over. Rookie Shiloh Keo becomes the primary backup and he lacks experience and discipline. They are paper thin in the secondary at this point. This weeks opponent Jacksonville may not be able to exploit a revamped secondary but keep an eye on this moving to week 9.

That base 3/4 of the Texans is looking tougher every week. They sure are changing their image on defence. That kid filling in for Mario Willaims, is playing well. He is a high motor guy and really is taking the outside cut off the opponents rushing game.

    Seattle Seahawks

CB Walter Thurmond is gone for the year, the second starting CB to go down in two weeks. The CB position is now a mess with Cincinnati coming to town. Strong safety Kam Chancellor had to leave the game late with a badly bruised knee. With Seattle a real good run stuffing team look for Cinci to game plan some toward the passing game. They have had an extra week to work off a silent count in preparation for the zoo-like atmosphere in Seattle. I am keeping an eye toward the over 37.5 in that one. With both teams adept a stuffing the run I think the passing game will be more prominent on both sides of the ball. Less ball control means less clock and more scoring.

QB Tavaris Jackson will be back. He could have gone yesterday but they gave Whitehurst the benefit of the doubt. As a quarterback I think Charlie could make a real good impression. On a Pop Warner team. That no-huddle deal that the Hawks run needs a guy who can move around in the pocket and not lose his cool. Jackson's return to that offense will mean another 6-8 first downs for sure. That low total is looking better as I type. People are gonna remember Sunday's snore fest. It will not be so this coming week.

    more to follow........

    Cincinnati Bengals

Starting MLB Rey Maualuga had the cast removed from his left ankle but is still extremely doubtful for this week. Starting weekside line backer Thomas Howard is working on the side only as the practice week opens. He is limited with a bad hamstring.

RB Cedric Benson is suspended for the week. Bernard Scott will likely replace him. He is a better receiver than Benson and my guess is they use him on some short play action stuff.

CB Pacman Jones is practicing and can be activated on an 3 week roster exemption at any time.

This thread is full of information that would help a serious handicapper. Looking through your posting history, it is evident this is not for you anyway. I suggest you head over to your "actual internet sites' and do your thing. I was under the impression that SBR might have been one of those "actual internet sites". Sorry Pal.

Or maybe you should spend the rest of your gambling career trying to figure out when and how to hedge a bet. Or play your next JustBet teaser. Or play in your coloring books.........

                Panthers

Looks like Omar Gaither will be back to help out a thin linebacking core. With Jon Beason and Th0mas Davis out for the year they will need the help. I thought the Panthers linebackers played a lot better against the Skins than they have been playing especially James Anderson. He was in on a pile of tackles on Sunday. With Adrian Petersen coming to town they had better be as ready as possible.

                Vikes

This team is mess but to what extent we won't know until midweek. Starting RG Anthony Herrera is done for the year with a torn ACL. Starting CB Chris Cook is in court on Tuesday on domestic battery charges. The CB he replace Antoine Winfield is going to try to practice but says he does not know if he is ready to return. The team has left it entirely up to him. WR Bernard Berrian is going to be released. He was inactive and in the doghouse again on Sunday.

I don't like this team at all with Ponder in his first road start. Looks like a team that could just fall apart anytime. Herrera is a big loss.

                  Pats

LB Dane Fletcher did not practice during the bye week, we will have to find out whether he is listed. That is real important because Jerod Mayo is a week or two away from returning. They way the Steelers like to pound the ball it is going to be real important to know how healthy the LB's and Fat Albert are this week.

LT Matt Light is limited as well. That certainly bears watching too. That is Brady's blind side and that 3/4 scheme and blitz package of the Steelers is blind side heavy. That line seems short @ -2.5 off a bye and the Steelers returning from the West Coast.

                  Steelers

Nothing good to report regarding James Harrison, Casey Hampton and his backup Chris Hoke. The Steelers are razor thin on the D-Line.

Hines Ward left the game on Sunday with an ankle.

I am really gonna look into this line. At this point it looks short.

                    Cowboys

Not much to report from Sunday. OG Derrick Dockerty who has been out for 5 games may return.

                    Eagles

LT Jason Peters will return as will DE Trent Cole. That means Todd Herremans can move back to right tackle where he started the year.

I liked the Cowboys effort this weekend. Albeit against the Rams, they needed a blowout game. I still think they are better than they have been performing. I am not yet sold on the Eagles.

                      Bills

They get back linebackers Shawne Merriman and Chris Kelsay but that means little to me. I don't think Merriman is much of a force anymore and the defense graded poorly when these guys were in. The key starter who has been out is DT Kyle Williams, he is probably their best D-Lineman and run stuffer. He is still out for a few weeks.

That defense is just plain bad. Against the run and pass. Their deficiencies have been masked somewhat by the turnovers they have created. They only have 4 sacks all year. If you think Washington can control the line of scrimmage on Sunday they can cover that 6.\

In the offensive side of the ball both LT's Demetrious Bell and his backup Chris Hairston are out again. Third stringer Andre Levitre starts on the blind side. Washington is tied for the league lead with 21 sacks. They should find Buffalo to their liking this week, even though the Bills have given up only 7, a week blind side will be exposed in a hurry.

Buffalo is going to be a huge consensus play this week. I urge you to at least consider the above information if you are on that side.

cant figure out why everyone is lining up to jump on Bills. I know skins have some serious issues but im still not sold on Buf and their defense is just not good enough to lay this kind of number on a neutral field imo..not that i have much interest in playing skins at the moment but its either them or pass, prob pass..

                            Redskins

You have all heard a ton about the long list of injured players on offense for the Skins. I have a bit of a different take on some of them

RB Tim Hightower is out for the year. Ryan Torrain will fill the role of lead back. Not the end of the world to me. I like Hightowers leadership but his skill set can be replaced.

WR Santana Moss is out for the year after shattering his hand. He is their best wideout but not by any means irreplaceable. Jabar Gaffney and Anthony Armstrong are capable of stretching the field. Rookie Niles Paul has played well in limited reps.

The revamped offensive line with key players in new spots played not too bad against the Panthers. I do not think the Bills will be a stiffer test than that with their less than stellar pass rush and without Kyle Williams

Now the defensive side of the ball is what troubles me. O.J Otogwe is going to miss again from early reports. London Fletcher was hurt in the Panther game. If he misses which I doubt being the warrior that he is, it would be the first game he has ever missed anywhere in 14 years.

That is both signal callers on D. I like the defensive personnel but I have to know what the status of Fletcher is before I can fall in love with the Redskin side.

Dan makes a real good point here. For those not following closely, this game is in Toronto. I can't label it neutral as most that are partisan will be Bills fans and they do make some noise. The game is in the Rogers Centre and the roof is retractable. With a forecast high of 47 and sunny, my guess is they leave it closed.

If anyone has anything to add regarding this venue please help us out!!!

I went to one game 3 or 4 years ago against Miami and it was a frickin snoozer. There were a lot of Dolphins fans and the Bills sucked. I think it was J.P Losman for the Bills and the game was like 16-3 for the Phins.

I am speculating the Bills fans to be loud here with the better state of affairs in Buffalo. It can get loud in there but with the Jays playing and the Bills the last 3 years the place has not seen noise in a while. It would probably implode if Detroit ever got a Bills game there.

                                            Broncos

RB Willis McGahee is done for at least two weeks with a busted hand. Knowshon Moreno is still not 100% with his hammy and has looked mediocre in his reps this year. That leaves it up to Lance Ball to carry the bulk of the workload.

Of course Timmy could lateral it to himself some as well. Hell he can snap the fugging thing too if he wants. If I ever have to listen to a game crew blow someone again like they blew him I am going to drop kick my 58" plasma out of my living room.

That is all on Denver and my TV for now.

I also lean to that seahawks over, but really wanted the key number of 37.

                                                Lions

QB Matthew Stafford sounded less than optomistic in the Detroit Free Press on his chances of playing. Shaun Hill would go if Stafford can't. As much Stafford hype as there has been he has looked real bad the last three halves of football he has played. He looked completely out of sync on Sunday against the Falcons. In his own building no less.

Here is my take on that and the Lion's offense. No Jahvid Best....No good. Best has not racked up a pile of stats in two years but he is a threat to break a long play every time he touches the ball. When he is in you just cannot leave him unshadowed. Without him there was an extra man in the defensive backfield for the Falcons on Sunday and Stafford looked confused. He was also less than stellar against the 3/4 alignment of the 49ers. That look has confused him before. Keep in mind this kid has not played a ton of games yet and is still learning on the fly.

Regarding Best he has still not been cleared for contact and it is highly unlikely that he plays this week.

This line is now out @ Detroit -3. It appears that Detroit is the consensus on the opening line. I am happy to see that and will be looking at this one a lot more closely as the week gets towards Friday.

Yes that line was set off the key for a reason. They are not going to see enough action on this early to allow them to react to any weakness this line shows so they bought their insurance with the tick. Watch to see if the smart guys hammer this hard and late. The under is now at even money and some books opened at 38. As soon as Tavaris is confirmed in the Wednesday after practice reports my guess is that 37.5 will rapidly show to the over.

                                                      Chargers

A couple of very large issues here that should be monitored

All Pro LT Marcus MacNeill left Sunday's game with a neck injury and is in danger of missing Monday against KC. This guy is everything to Phillip Rivers being comfortable in the pocket. He has had neck surgery before and the Chargers are very concerned about this latest injury, early indications are that he will miss. That guy is a mountain in if he is out that is very significant.

The Chargers are also monitoring the condition of L OLB Shaun Phillips who is having foot issues and is still recovering from a hamstring problem. R OLB Larry English who plays meaningful minutes behind Travis LaBoy is also having foot problems and is expected out this week and beyond.

Keep an eye on these issues.

                                                        Browns

Couple of big hits to the already inept receiving core of Cleveland.

TE Ben Watson suffered a concussion against Seattle and did not play in the second half and Mohamed Massaquoi also suffered a concussion and did not play the second half. Both of these players are automatically placed in concussion protocol as it is their second concussion in just over a year. If Moe can't go Josh Cribbs will step in as a reciever and it will be Evan Moore and Alex Smith splitting reps at Watson's spot.

Tough to have any interest on the Browns this week. That 3/4 set the Niners have been featuring should eat the Browns alive. The Browns cannot run the ball. Period. And now are losing targets to throw to. Very hard to believe that -9 or even -9.5 will be the number at game time.

LB Scott Fujita has not yet been cleared to play with his concussion.

                                                            Dolphins

QB Matt Moore is dealing with some badly bruised ribs and will be extremely limited this week in practice.Moore has been hit 25 times over the last 2 weeks but is expected to give it a go this week. The plan was to give Sage Rosenfels a lot of the reps this week and some game action this week against the Giants to prepare him if Moore was no longer able to tolerate the injury. That plan is now out the window as Rosenfels has been place on the non-football injury list with a recurrence of the blood infection he had earlier this year.

The Phins signed J.P. Losman to the active roster. I use the term active with caution. They could have signed the man in the moon for less.
Losman gives the word stink a few more lines in the dictionary.

The "Learn The Rule" in NCAAB was the best...lol. Oh boy beyond that; the fake avatars of pics that she claimed to be her, fake recorded keeping, starting records over after a bad run, advertising her dumbass website, running too the help forum to ban and cuff members...man I could go on and on.

The offensive line is in real trouble here. As mentioned All-Pro LT has a neck injury. He practiced Thursday and will go but is not 100% or even close. LG Kris Dielman suffered a concussion and a seizure following Sunday's game and will be out for at least 2 weeks. Backup C/G Scott Mruczkowski has a neck injury as well and was limited in practice this week. They are very thin up front right now.

On defense outside LB Shaun Phillips is extremely doubtful as mentioned earlier. He is by far their best pass rushing threat and has started 61 games in a row. Backup OLB Larry English is done for the year.

                                                                    Very thin there as well

San Diego is a solid consensus pick so far with the line holding @-3.5 for the most part. Some books opened @-4. I wish mine was one of them. The total has moved up a half a tick to 44.5 from 44.
