I wouldn't be surprised if 98% of the people are on the 49ers.

Its the 1st week of the NFL season and there is no tougher place for teams to play than Seattle with their fans that scream bloody murder for the full 60 minutes of the game.

The only side I would consider taking is Seattle plus the points.

im on the 9ers too...the 49ers know what its like to play in seattle cuz they play there every year, so i think thats a little less of a factor..i just think the books have the line off on this one.. seattle is rebuilding and pete carrol is a proven bust at the NFL level..hasnt showed otherwise..and until he shows otherwise, gotta go against him, wouldnt you all say?

I agree i'm a huge Hawks fan but i got a feeling the get blown out of the stadium by the 49'ers, to much controversy floating around the Hawks right now.

i dont have any stats to back this up...but if there is ANY time that the public has an advantage over the book as far as NFL betting, its gotta be week 1 and 2 of the season..the pre season doesn't tell us anything, i think thats why most of the week 1 lines are pretty close other than the giants and bears games.. odds are that the 9ers are the favorite in the NFC WEST and that the hawks have the potential to be the #1 in the draft next year... i think its as simple as that to choose a side in this game..

Pete Carrol was not a bust of a coach. He has a winning NFL coaching record. He took 2 teams to the playoffs and the year after he left, the Patriots became one of the worst teams. There seems to be some kind of weird negative hype campaign on him and it's just not accurate.

The line is where it is to attempt to get balanced action. Seattle is pretty much the same team talent wise that beat SF in Sea last year by 3, when SF was going in favored by 1. Was that week 13 line off??? However, I was at that game, and it could have gone either way and Seattle was lucky to win it. So a line of -3 seems about right to me.

All of that said, I DO think SF wins this game by more than the current -2.5 I'm seeing. I think SF has revenge on their mind as last year's loss should still be fresh in their minds. They had some bad TO's and did not convert a 4th and goal. For Seattle, the Offensive line coach quitting and OL changes will take time to overcome, and I don't think the offensive line chemistry in Sea will be up to par in week 1.

Niners have much better D, went 5-1 in the division last year (some BS non calls in Seattle gave the hawks that game, I was there), and just plain out have more talent. Between Davis, Gore, Crabtree, Smith, Willis etc. If I remember right this was the line last year SF has improved. Hammer 3 while you can.
