Lawrence Taylor and the Hall of Fame
If Taylor ends up being guilty on just about any level of raping a 16-year-old girl, he not only should be thrown in prison, but out of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The greats of the game, even the ones who have their own issues, shouldn’t have to sit next to somebody like Taylor, a guy who has been given more chances than a millionaire in a casino.
Cole has caveats about “due process” and “innocent until proven guilty.”
But it still seems early to be speculating about such things.
And can you really have a Pro Football Hall of Fame without Lawrence Taylor in it?

Perhaps they should have a jail section in the Hall, and put LT, and all the other players convicted of crimes, or gambling, or Roids, in that section.

Whatever he does off the field should be irrelevant as far as the Hall of Fame is concerned. His play earned him the right to be there. His actions years after football will earn him the right to sit in a cell.

Remember he was a coke head and a crack head while he was playing football. I hope what he has done will earn him the right to die in a cell.

          Tell that to Pete Rose.

But is there precedent for throwing someone out of the HoF for what they've done after retirement?

For whatever it's worth, Ty Cobb did some pretty nasty stuff and is still in the baseball HOF. I haven't really followed the Taylor story, but it seems like he paid a 16 year old hooker for sex. If that's all that happened, I think kicking him out of the HOF would be a major overreaction.

If they didn't kick out OJ they aren't kicking out LT.

Pete Rose doesn't belong in the hall.

OJ is in and there is no way LT will be removed. You are out of your mind if you think they have the right to remove him because of something he did outside of the game. It has nothing to do with the NFL and if you think everyone in the hall is a good person then you are in for a big let down

Wow, calm down. I don't think anybody who has posted in this thread knows about this case any more than what was disseminated by the press, even if you're all right it's early to make up your minds and throw stones at anybody

this isn't his first incident with the law though, so he's well on his way toward disgracedom.
