#82Why does anyone care if Brett Favre is coming back? He is without a doubt the most overrated player of our generation. Every year of his career he plays decent in the regular season and chokes in the playoffs because his ego is so enormous he has to make the spectacular play instead of the smart play.
If anyone disagrees with me, and honestly believes it is a good idea to add Brett Favre to a team in playoff contention, do me a single favor. Go back and look at the last 10 years of playoff games Brett Favre has participated in. I am begging you. Objectively look at the outcome of these games and Brett Favre's contributions to them. Start with the 6 interceptions against St. Louis in 2001, and stop with the 2 interceptions and a fumble lost against New Orleans a few months ago.
It is MIND BOGGLING that someone this bad at football can continue to receive praise from anyone.

#85I certainly don't want to discredit the Saints. How could anyone not love that Saints team from last year? But I honestly believe the Vikings were the best team in the NFL last year. All around running, passing, run defense, pass defense, special teams. They were phenomenal. A lot of people would argue they dominated the Saints that night. Remember that game and how lopsided the statistics were? The Vikings outplayed them consistenly but always made the big mistakes. So think about how good the Vikings were, and look at what happened down the stretch? The same thing that always happens to teams QBed by Brett Favre (and coached by Brad Childress), they fell apart when it counted most.
My largest bet of the entire season was on the Vikings to beat the Cowboys in round 2 of the playoffs. The Cowboys were terribly outmatched, as evidenced by their 3 point performance. Besides two decent drives to start the game, the Vikings defense absolutely dominated them. The only thing more guaranteed than betting against Favre in the playoffs is betting against Tony Romo and Wade Phillips. And please don't bring the Eagles into this. I have watched every second of Eagles football over the last 10 years of my life, and that was easily the worst playoff team they have had in the Reid-Mcnabb era.
Bottom line, objectively read Favre's Playoff stat lines in the 2000's and think twice about what your previous misconceptions.

#89Vikings fans get to learn what "regression to the mean" means this year.
They have a Mike Vick in the making (athletically speaking) with that late round QB they took, should be an interesting QB controversy whenever Brett gets around to hanging it up.Walter forgot... when you're desperate's when you got no choice.Comment -

#104Slacker, just read your Peyton Manning comparison. Love it for the most part. I do think there is a huge gap however in Manning's regular season performances and Favre. Favre's career in Green Bay was played under a west coast offense with great running games and screen games, and his numbers were very good as I said. Meanwhile Manning played in offenses that depended entirely on efficient passing which set up the run. And in doing so he put up PHENOMENAL regular season numbers. Manning was his entire offense for his entire career and has a career 2:1 TD-INT ratio. Meanwhile Favre's career ratio is about 1.5:1.
I do like the comparison though. Both play much worse football in the playoffs. But I think Manning's regular season performances have been much more impressive.Comment
