I can see him saying this to throw people off, but I don't see him coming back again after surgery
Favre is done.

#40Farve is a true football player........it was his style of play that got those teams in those critical games you say he lost.......there does come a time for all players to retire, its easy to pile on something socialy popular just to sound ubber intelligent, and some on here will agree. Farve was exciting to watch and he was a true football player that played QB....they dont make them like that anymore.....he will be missed. Big Daddy you of all people surprise me with your stanceComment -

#42And he would have had shoulder surgery 6 months earlier LAST year if he wanted to come back and play for the Jets again. What's your point? Favre doesn't want to go through the motions of OTA's and summer camps, as he's made obvious the past 2 seasons. He's just stalling so the recovery time keeps him off the field until the pre-season.Comment -

Look what happened to Minnesota last year. The Vikes averaged about 144 yards rushing in games 1-3. That dropped to 98 in games 14-16. Conversely their passing average went from 178 yards per game in their first 3 games to 225 yards per game in their last 3 games. Obviously Minnesota depended more and more on Favre, and less and less on Peterson, as the season wore on. Their turnover ratio went from +8 in their first 6 games to -2 in the last 6 games. They turned the ball over 4 times against the Saints. Obviously the more they depended on Favre, the worse things got. The Vikes started the season 6-0 and finished the season 3-4. Favre was 1-5in the final 6 games of 2008. The proof is there. The longer the season wears on, the more the Drama Queen has to take over the stage. This is why I give Minny very little chance to get to the big game.Comment -

#49Think he's done. Vikings will not get to the playoffs. Peterson is slowing down, OL cant protect him, Taylor is gone. He really doesnt have a shot this year. Plus the wife want him to retire, after all the hits he got.
If he comes back he will pull an Urlacher, injure in 1st half of the 1st game and be done for the rest of the season, and get his money.Comment -

#51I don't like Favre, but nobody can say he didn't get his mark at NFL history (and NOT by throwing most touchdowns!).
He's that kind of raw, average IQ QB, but the one I'd like to count on if I was playing football. 70% of NFL's teams would be better if Favre were playing for them.
He NEVER gets hurt (look at his 'consecutive games started' count'. Put him on coma and he will get up when the regular season approaches)
But yes, he is old, he won't be better than last season, and, actually, with all due respect to all Favre's die hard fans, he won't make an impact if he comes out of his retirement for the third time in a row (except with the odds, which will be an interesting profit opportunity)

#53Favre is certainly not the type to come back and not play due to injury. That would have to be one very serious injury to keep him out. Say what you want about him, but he is a fighter. I say he gives it one more shot, fails, and then retires.Comment -
