I posted this on a thread yesterday but had not received any responses. Any of you have any thoughts or specific ways you hedge? thanks
I placed a round robin bet and stand to win my three remaining parlays if the Colts cover. Even if the Colts don't cover, with the one parlay I won I earned a 40% profit on my investment.
Carolina +1 (won)
NY Giants -10.5 (won)
Washington -3 (won)
Colts -3.5
Should I hedge the Colts game today and lock in a little more profit? Is there a standard percentage that is the best to lock in, 'risk vs reward' wise. Say I stand to win $1,000 if the Colts cover, how much would you hedge the Colts game for? Thanks
If you had the Colts at -3, I would say $500, because you will be able to get +4, maybe +4.5 if you wait, and would have a nice middle opprtunity. Since you have very little middle opportunity, you don't want to destroy half your profit. Assuming you still think the Colts will cover, I would say $350 at the max.
If i hedge i only do it to protect my initial outlay should the unexpected happen. Any more, as Razz says, you will be destroying your profit should you're initial selection prove to be correct.
Thanks for the input. Since I have already made enough to cover my outlay I will probably not do anything unless I see the line on the Pats increase to +5.
When I put this RR together I ranked the 4 teams by probability of winning ATS as:
#1 Panthers
#2 Colts
#3 Giants
#4 Redskins
I had a lot of 'faith' in the Colts already so I will let them ride.
I have the Pats +10.5 for the last team of a 7 team teaser tonight.
Also taking teaser with Pats +10.5 & the over 41.5.
I plan to take Pats before gametime at probably +4.5.
Taking the Pats moneyline +170 is tempting as well.
Pittsburgh +168 - Good value in the underdog Penguins here... After a terrible start they are playing better hockey of late,, including 2 wins in 3 games on their current road trip.. Rangers are playing better then many expected this season,, but they are still far from a Stanley Cup Contender and don't deserve to be this big of faves in my opinion...
Edmonton +131 - Oilers on a 5 game winning streak that started in Dallas with a 5-3 win about 10 days ago,, why not take them again here as dogs until they cool off.. Dallas is a very streaky team,, you never know what your gonna get with them...
