    Staford #1 ?? My azzzz
This guy will be another leaf. I seen his ass to many times for georgia and hes not great . In fact hes average at best. I would draft nixx from n.c. Before i took this bum.

I don't know much about Stafford, but all of these QBs are Jrs. I'd stay away, at least in the first half of round 1. Detroit needs an OT anyway. Personally, I think Culpepper is workable. This franchise is years away, even Tom Brady behind center wouldn't get this team to 8-8. Build from the ground up, focus on the DL & OL in this draft for the cellar dwellers in the NFL.

I know. At least Millen is gone. Still, I half expect them to take a WR. Worse yet, they won't have their pick signed before the draft, which is a just as bad in modern times. I've even heard stupid rumors that they will let the clock run out in some crackpot strategy to save money against the salary cap. So, yes, until the official announcement is made, I expect almost anything from 0-16 Detroit.

I agree with you on addressing the OL and DL first. When you build a house, its best to get a solid foundation before you buy the accessories.

this move really comes down to two things....the fact that the lions already have a serviceable left tackle in backus and drafted one last year at 17 with cherilus....and they dont want to commit that much guaranteed money to that position right now....its more justifiable to commit it to a potential franchise qb....

also i think too many people are looking at the success of ryan and flacco last year....and how tom dmitroff worked the draft last year for atlanta....grabbing ryan at 3 and then trading into the first again for sam baker at 21...well the lions do have the 20 and the 33.....the thing with ryan and flacco is ryan had a strong running game to lean on....and flacco had the running game and a defense to lean on....as much as i like matt ryan...he hardly set the world on fire....19tds-12 ints....you better make sure you can run the ball....although kevin smith does show potential....and megatron is already one of the top 5 wrs in the game

funny though...mike mayock...who for my money is the best draft anaylyst out there....said if he combined last years qb class and this years....his ranking would be ryan, sanchez, flacco, stafford, and freeman....mayock is the best out there in my opinion....he said last year that jerod mayo(selected by my pats) was the surest pick out there....so beware lions

i agree though...stafford scares me....cbs always has SEC games on...ive seen alot of him....and they say the SEC is where all the speed is....and he was so inconsistent there....the SEC is probably the conference that can best duplicate the speed of nfl defenses....sure stafford has all the tools...but there are tons of big guys with big arms....what seperates the average guys from the great ones is the ability to process info quickly on the fly...ie pre snap shifts in coverage....fronts....blitz recognition

ill say this though....one of martin mayhews first acts when he took over for millen...was to trade roy williams...a guy that wanted a big new contract...and wasnt worth it to the lions....and he got a first, 3rd, and another late round pick....so he got off to a good start if you ask me

Seems like the only team interested in Stafford are the Lions. Every other team trying to trade up to get Sanchez.

Sanchez is definately more impressive especially his performances against Ohio St and Penn St defenses.... considered the bests in college last season.

Stafford is legit. He played in the best defensive conference in the nation and Georgia was the number 1 passing team in the conference.

When he was a senior in high school they said he would be a top 5 NFL draft pick. That is how good he is.

I forgot the Lions took Cherilus last year. I guess the Lions don't really need an OT.

They still need help on the defense, though. Too bad they couldn't trade out of the #1 spot, so they could get extra players. I'm not sure there's a defensive player that's really worth the #1 overall. I guess Curry said that he'd take less money than Jake Long signed for last season, but is it really worth it? I think I'd ink Curry before I'd pick Stafford, especially if he they can't sign a deal before the draft.

I suspect they'd trade out in a heart-beat if they could get a dance partner who offered them a bunch of picks...but the reality is that NOBODY wants the #1 pick because of all the guarenteed money that goes with it.

They should trade down to lower then 7 (Raiders). They can save a lot of money, but still get a good player: Raji or a OT. Next year there will be QBs coming out, that are better then Stafford and Sanchez.

Rams reportedly purchased a plane ticket for Sanchez to arrive at Rams park on Sunday morning.

There are a lot of teams desperate for a QB, apparently. That's the only reason these QBs are getting the love. What are the odds Freeman can move into the top 10 with all of this desperation? Who's gonna be left holding the bag without a QB? Jets? Broncos? Jags? Seahawks? 49ers? Sounds like all of these teams are looking to the draft for their franchise QB, but there aren't enough QBs to go around. The Rams weren't even on my radar.
