    San Diego/Pittsburg capping forum...
This game is looking like it will be played in the snow. I havent checked the over under, but i know im in San Diego and we dont see snow ever! Im not an SD fan having recently moved here but their only hope is Ben is still a little shaken up, and Sproles can make some people miss and go for some major gains cause LT's not even dressing up. With Gates not playing most likely either I feel the +6 might be generous to be honest. The snow and injuries will play heavilly in to this game. We will see though.... Rivers has been known to let his emotions factor in to his play as well, Jackson just got his DUI(about 2 miles from my house) this week and I think this proves Turner is having some discipline issues to go along a distracted team with his lack luster past playoff performances. I would love to hear some input though of course but Pittsburg has some real gamers and they seem to have alot more than +6 in their favor considering they are playig an 8-8 team that caught Indianapolis offgaurd. Parker is healthy as well so you know this game could be decided by the ground game.

Steelers will not be able to match points with the Chargers, kinda like AZ and the Panthers game now.

Steelers will loses because of Ben he will get sacked, as he always does, he will throw picks as he always does. Sacks and picks are not going to work against the Chargers like it did against Cin and Cleveland.

PS San Diego is 2-0 in playoff games against the steelers.

Snow always helps the underdog .. SD is the underdog. And, regardless of the weather, Pitt will send them back to CA, hats in hand.

Indy(31 ranked in rushing this season) played bad last week and the game itself was ugly. The Chargers have a suspect defense and the steelers are proven in the playoffs. Both times SD beat pit in the playoffs but it was 1994 and 1982. In the playoffs, with Big(dbag)ben at the helm since the 05 post-season the steelers have put up the scores (31-17) (21-18 cant believe the guy couldnt return the fumble for a td!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) (34-17) (21-10) (29-31)last game vs jax . So imo, pit will get ATLEAST 3 td's. I highly doubt pit's D pulls a no-show so question is, can san diego D stop the steelers. and, personally, im not a believer. Head to Head the steelers are 20-6, i think that chalk one more up for win column.

This line is as high as it is because of the Chargers record. Take the Chargers, they'll play up to their potential.

The Steelers dominated last game offensively (410 yards), defensively (218 yards against), time of possession (36:31/23:29), and had 0 turnovers. They were killed by penalties, 13-115.

And with Darren Sproles, the Charges have no chance at establishing a running game, especially on a wet/slippery turf. Philip Rivers couldn't pass the team to victory last game, and he won't this game.

                  The 2-0 stat is meaningless.

                  Steelers are the play.

The Giants showed the new NFL model last year, which is similar to the NBA. The regular season doesn't matter, as long as you make the playoffs. Just as in the NBA, teams that have been to the playoffs a few times approach the regular season without a whole lot of interest. They know it only counts from January on.

Then there are teams that are on the rise. They do use the regular season to make their case, because they have something to prove. They're among the public favorites when the playoffs start. But often they have already peaked by the time January comes around.

Chargers have a better QB (highest rating) than Steelers, as well as a better running game. Forget the regular season. It means absolutely nothing. The Chargers were close last year (just losing at the Patriots) and the year before (giving the late lead away to the Pats). This is their time. This is what they've been waiting for. Not the regular season. They are peaking at the right moment.

The Steelers are a solid team, but nothing special. They haven't grown into a stronger unit lately. They're doing what they always do. Play tough football. That's not going to get it done against a team that's on a mission.

It's all about EXTRA motivation in the playoffs. Where does a team get this? The Cardinals got it the past two weeks from the disrespect everyone was showing them. The Chargers are getting it from their last two years in the playoffs.

Do you think the Steelers are peaking? Or are they flat-lining?

                    ====================

The experience in the last playoff season is often a strong motivation that runs through the next season. A good example are the Dallas Mavs. In the finals they just lost to Miami in the playoffs, and would probably have won if they had home court. So the next season they set out to get the best record (and home court). They achieved this, but spend so much energy in the process that they were kicked out in the first round of the playoffs. They couldn't peak anymore. So the next season they decided they couldn't care less about the regular season, and never got the air back in the balloon.

Completely false, Green Bay, New England etc. Teams used to the snow perform better under those conditions because they actually practice under these condidtions, while its snowing in Pittsburg tomorrow I will be here in San Diego, forecast says 80 degrees. I would love to see San Diego win but with Sproles and Benett who has not played in 7 games +6 seems like a big number, I would love to see the number rise but I have a feeling come gametime we will be looking at the same numbers maybe-115 +6, but who knows.

i would love to hear how you think the steelers are flat-lining. San diego is the team in question here. They played like crap last week. 200 yards threw the air will not cut it against the steelers. They also havent aloud 100 yard rusher ALL-season(i would love to see how that doesnt matter at all or is not motivation). The big key is obviously Sproles bottomline. Chargers D might step up but the last game they played ben had 300 yards and parker ran for 125. On-top of Pit season high 13 penalty's for 115 yds(only reason SD was in the game)(also dont forget that catch was a TD so score is misleading). So, better believe the motivation is in PIT favor. And to say regular season has nothing to do with it. Lets look so far.
Regular season week 12 (IND 23 SD 20) POST season (IND 17 SD 23)
                        week 5 (Ten 13 Bal 10) POST season (BAL 13 Ten 10)
                        week 13 (Bal 27 mia 13) Post season (BAL 27 mia 9)
week 8 (Ari 23 Car 27) Post Season (Ari 33 car 7) low score cause of jakes 5 int

look like regular season meant something. Game very identical.

I agree with you and there is no way the Ben will be at 100%, but in the snow run games dominate especially if its windy so with Parker health and Sproles with a target on his chest I have to give this one up to the home team. I just checked the lines and as of now we are looking at+6.5 bolts-110 and if it gets passed 7 I would have to call it a no play or throw in a 2 teamer teaser and drop the under and lift the point spread but after watching Carolina crap on themselves today I think that we are looking at the winner of this game going to the Bowl, that being said we will see the best out of both squads and I am actually exited for this game. But I think we will see that steel curtain hold up the 5'6'' little man and Pittsburg win it but calling it by more than a touchdown in a ground battle is not a very easy decision to make. I checked the weather and they changed it to a 20% chance of snow too, so if the money keeps dropping on the teelers and it does not snow it will be a whole different story with a nice +280 or so ml.

                            THINK ABOUT THIS....

                            2 dogs already covered. BAL+3 & ARIZONA+10

                            I like the eagles +4

so that leaves SD+6 in a tight spot. especially if the eagles win.

4 dogs to win against big teams ? i don't think so

acting like Philly +4 already happened, Buress really shot himself in the foot this time...I think if he was in we would be lookin at a Giants win but after his dumb ass decided to shoot himself this could be a big coinflip. Wish everygame was as easy to bet as Baltimore v.Miami

They beat and dominated the team that many experts considered the Superbowl favorite, going into that game. They had the Colts in a straight-jacket in the 2H, and their only shortcoming was that they turned the ball over in the red zone. They could have written it off as 'one of those days', but were never fazed by the adversity.
